1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First journal! (super pic heavy!) on: March 14, 2009 01:42:51 PM
I am SO excited about this. I've been wanting to try journal/book making for a while and yesterday I bought one of those things that your can poke holes through paper with (it looks like a pen...can someone please tell me the proper name for it?) Anyway, I made this little book this morning. It's not perfect but I'm reallllly proud.

The front. (I forgot to sew around the top and bottom of it. Tongue)

The back...how are you supposed to tie off the ends? I didn't know what to do so I just knotted it twice and tied a bow. Wink

Close up of the stitching...you can barely see the thread!

And some messy corners. Anyone have any tips on how to make them less messy and more finished looking? I made the covers by Mod Podging paper to pieces of paperboard. Next time I think I'll try my double-stick tape because it's less messy and holds better than Mod Podge. Any other advice is greatly appreciated!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Curtains & Couch Pillows on: March 02, 2009 03:18:25 PM
We're newlyweds, first house, etc. etc. so I was super excited to decorate. I picked Amy Butler's French Wallpaper to do the pillows and the top loops of the curtains. The actual curtains are Amy Butler's solid in linen. (I think it's linen, it might be celery.) Anyway, on to the pics!

I apologize for the bad pics, I couldn't seem to get enough light in here.  Tongue
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Grocery Tote for the swap...no no no, MelCap! on: February 23, 2009 02:06:51 PM

I had to put that pic first so the bag wouldn't come up on the home page. I don't want my swap partner to see her bag!

This is for MelCap in the reusable grocery tote swap. It's a little smaller than I wanted but I like it and I hope she does, too!

It's lined in the traditional grocery tote colored cotton but it's totally reversible so if she ever wants to hide the dandelions, she can!

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Business Name Change on: February 15, 2009 08:36:25 AM
I've been selling under Lemonade (now Lemonade Accessories) for the past 3 years. I've just recently (past 6 months) broken away from Etsy and started my own site. I have more of a name on Etsy than by myself, obviously.  Wink

Anyway, I came up with the name my junior year of HS. It's not really standing the test of time and, to be honest, I can't remember why I picked it. I was reading Craft Inc. last night and in the part about naming your business, she said that it needs to be something you'll like for a long time and something that no one else has. There's a Lemonade Bags and a Pink Lemonade Boutique as well as other 'Lemonade's on Etsy.

Needless to say, I'm thinking of a name change. The only problem...my website, business cards, and tags for my items all match and all say Lemonade Accessories. I'm not going to jump into a name change so I do have time to use up all these things but would it be wise to change a business name 3 years in? I haven't done anything legal yet so there's no paperwork to change...just wondering if I'd lose customers who are looking for me under Lemonade.

Geeze this got long, sorry!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Buttons on curtains on: January 03, 2009 11:28:27 PM
I made a curtain for my one kitchen window. Since our kitchen has an accidental aqua and red theme, I used red and white houndstooth fabric but couldn't for the life of me find the right shade of aqua fabric or ribbon to accent with so I got some cute buttons to go sew on there.

I can't figure out a way to make the buttons look good!

I have 10 vintage aqua colored buttons on their way to me and I have 10 other aqua buttons (and a few pink) to put on there. Any ideas? I thought about just making them cascade down one side but it didn't look quite right (maybe because all the buttons aren't here?) I also didn't like them in rows. The shape of the curtain is just a rectangle.

Help a sister out?
6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Flavor syrup bottles on: December 12, 2008 12:55:48 PM
I work at a coffee shop and when there's an empty syrup bottle, I can't bear to throw it away! I sew and work with paper so I can't really do with them. I don't have any tools (hooray for moving across the continent!) so I can't saw them. I thought about decopauging them but decoupage and I don't get along.

These are the bottles...

Any ideas?
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I don't make jewelry. on: July 26, 2008 08:06:03 PM
I really don't, I sew and I try to knit.

But I decided to make my bridesmaid's jewelry...

The picture's not the best but I think it came out pretty well...what say you?
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Yet another roll of film on: July 03, 2008 03:02:51 PM
I feel so old school shooting film but I love it! Here's part of a roll that I shot this week. I edited them, of course. Most of them have been cross processed in Picnik.

I'd love to hear your comments & (constructive) criticism!  Smiley
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My last two photography assignments...really super IMG heavy. on: June 09, 2008 05:03:30 PM
I took photo I during the first summer semester and here are two of my assignments and the images that I didn't turn in but I'm still proud of!

These are depth of field, the top image was shot at f-1.8  and the second was f-11

These were done with light painting...a huge PITA but I love the results!

Please let me know what you think!
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / First Photographs! (It's only appropriate that this post is IMG HEAVY.) on: May 26, 2008 04:27:41 PM
Well, not my first...I've taken about 346975987 photos in my life but these are the first that I feel should be shown off! They were taken by me and then I edited them in Gimp (I'm just learning Gimp.)

This was taken earlier this month. It was my first flight!

Taken just about a week ago in my front yard.

Last year at the beach down in Hollywood, FL.

Also in Hollywood.

Taken June 2007 in downtown St. Augustine.

And a B&W, also in Hollywood.

Please let me know what you think!  Cheesy
