Thanks everyone! The black thing on the front is my tag. (It's actually brown.)

And there are flowers on the front (I've been calling them dandelions but I know they're not so Cealy might be right!)

The kitten is actually my sister's so it's back home in FL. I think it's name is Simba but I call it Fuzzy.  Wink

I had to put that pic first so the bag wouldn't come up on the home page. I don't want my swap partner to see her bag!

This is for MelCap in the reusable grocery tote swap. It's a little smaller than I wanted but I like it and I hope she does, too!

It's lined in the traditional grocery tote colored cotton but it's totally reversible so if she ever wants to hide the dandelions, she can!

I finally figured out what I'm gonna do! I can't wait to make it, it should be awesome.  Cheesy
16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: shipping materials on: February 17, 2009 11:58:25 AM
I get my shipping stuff from Staples. My things are small so I mostly use the 6 x 9 envelopes. It's something like $7 for 100. I also get the bigger envelopes there. I think it's about $11-$12 for 100 of those. I don't use bubble mailers that much but if/when I do need them, I'll just grab some from Staples, too.

I only use priority mail if it's a big/heavy order and there's not much of a difference between Priority and First Class. To me, it's not worth it to use it all the time. The materials are free but then you pay $4 or $5 for shipping. I'd end up eating most of that. (But like I said, my items are small. If yours are bigger, it'd be worth it for you!)

Thanks for the feedback! I really expected people to say something like, "No! That's a kiss of death!"

I like the sticker idea. I could put those on the back of my biz cards. I'd def. annouce it on my shop blog with a link on my homepage.  Smiley

I share a room with my husband (my crafting, his computer) and I always always always keep the door shut. I'll let the cats (I have 2) in the room if someone is in there. If I'm sewing, they'll just lay on the floor but if I turn my back, they're into everything.  Tongue

I keep a lint roller on my cutting table as well as a spray bottle. All I have to do is point the spray bottle toward them and they're gone (oh, and it helps me get the wrinkles out of my fabric, lol.)
19  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Business Name Change on: February 15, 2009 08:36:25 AM
I've been selling under Lemonade (now Lemonade Accessories) for the past 3 years. I've just recently (past 6 months) broken away from Etsy and started my own site. I have more of a name on Etsy than by myself, obviously.  Wink

Anyway, I came up with the name my junior year of HS. It's not really standing the test of time and, to be honest, I can't remember why I picked it. I was reading Craft Inc. last night and in the part about naming your business, she said that it needs to be something you'll like for a long time and something that no one else has. There's a Lemonade Bags and a Pink Lemonade Boutique as well as other 'Lemonade's on Etsy.

Needless to say, I'm thinking of a name change. The only problem...my website, business cards, and tags for my items all match and all say Lemonade Accessories. I'm not going to jump into a name change so I do have time to use up all these things but would it be wise to change a business name 3 years in? I haven't done anything legal yet so there's no paperwork to change...just wondering if I'd lose customers who are looking for me under Lemonade.

Geeze this got long, sorry!
20  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Cheaper fabric options, esp. for DIY sellers? on: February 14, 2009 10:20:34 AM
For a long time I couldn't see paying $10 a yard for fabric (and even now, I still wince everytime I pay for it!) If I buy a yard of fabric that cost $10 and then a solid to line my items in for (at the most) $5 a yard, that's $15 I've spent in fabric. My items are small and I can do a ton with just one yard. So in my case, I'm still making a profit.

I know you make clothes which def. use more fabric than my little pouches and wristlets. Just wanted to share my experiences.  Smiley

I thought I had some fabric stores saved in my favorites that might help you but they're all upholstery and Japanese fabrics. Sorry!
