2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: What should I study in school to benefit my crafty business? on: April 17, 2009 02:48:46 PM
I'm in the same boat as you! I'm doing some business (intro) classes and plan on taking some digital photography. I could really stand to improve my Photoshop/GIMP skills!
3  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Peanut butter cupcakes and oreo truffles! on: March 22, 2009 07:06:33 PM
I'm a PB lover so I'm going to have to check out that recipe! The cupcakes and the truffles look delicious!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Make Me A Reusable Shopping Bag Swap Round 2 - The Gallery! on: March 16, 2009 11:46:33 AM
I've been meaning to post my bag for so long! (Was Craftster acting up for anyone else last night?)

Anyway, here is the bag that MelCap sent me. I love it! I used it at Michael's yesterday and the check-out girl commented on what a pretty bag it is. Thanks, MelCap!

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: First journal! (super pic heavy!) on: March 14, 2009 05:04:20 PM
Thanks you guys!

arcticmouse- I thought it was called an awl but I wasn't sure. Smiley

lynner4- I'll have to look on her website to see how she did it. I'll also have to look for some PVA glue. The double sided tape that I have is pretty flat since it's main purpose is for scrapbooking.
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / First journal! (super pic heavy!) on: March 14, 2009 01:42:51 PM
I am SO excited about this. I've been wanting to try journal/book making for a while and yesterday I bought one of those things that your can poke holes through paper with (it looks like a pen...can someone please tell me the proper name for it?) Anyway, I made this little book this morning. It's not perfect but I'm reallllly proud.

The front. (I forgot to sew around the top and bottom of it. Tongue)

The back...how are you supposed to tie off the ends? I didn't know what to do so I just knotted it twice and tied a bow. Wink

Close up of the stitching...you can barely see the thread!

And some messy corners. Anyone have any tips on how to make them less messy and more finished looking? I made the covers by Mod Podging paper to pieces of paperboard. Next time I think I'll try my double-stick tape because it's less messy and holds better than Mod Podge. Any other advice is greatly appreciated!
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: This is now my income. Help? on: March 08, 2009 05:30:35 AM
Congrats on the store! I have no advice, though...except that in your sig, the etsy URL is backwards. It should be 9thlife.etsy.comSmiley
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Curtains & Couch Pillows on: March 02, 2009 07:03:29 PM
Thanks!

Great idea to use the pillow fabric for the curtain loops.  Constructive criticism here...you need a curtain loop at both edges of each side of the curtain panel-4 more loops per window.  This will allow the curtains to hang better and cover the window more completely. You could add them now if you have more fabric.

Good luck to you and enjoy decorating your nest!

I realized that after I had them hung up. Unfortunately, I used all of the French wallpaper fabric.  Sad

We're newlyweds, first house, etc. etc. so I was super excited to decorate. I picked Amy Butler's French Wallpaper to do the pillows and the top loops of the curtains. The actual curtains are Amy Butler's solid in linen. (I think it's linen, it might be celery.) Anyway, on to the pics!

I apologize for the bad pics, I couldn't seem to get enough light in here.  Tongue

I always use my real name but like CraftyChef said, as long as the address is good, it doesn't make a difference what name is on there.
