ok, so maby not so itty bitty, as it's made for a 12 month old, but itty bitty nonetheless.  used pattern from bernat "sweet baby hoodie:"  http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=1390

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Hooray for $2.97 Walmart sheets! on: July 06, 2006 03:24:21 PM
Further proof that bluecat shouldn't go wandering in the Walmart craft department alone at 11:30 at night...

so i found the pattern, New Look 6557, and figured i'd get around to making it someday.  then inspiration struck me passing the bedding.  picked up a twin sized-flat sheet, turned around, and picked up some bias tape, thread, and a zipper back in crafts.  took a few days (i work second shift and my neighbors get cranky when i drag out the sewing machine at 1 AM) but i'm happy with it.  will be wearing to a wedding this weekend.

Full dress (with Mom in the upper left corner)

i don't recommend playing with zippers at 3 AM.  i had to re-install it about 3 times.

Edit: because I can't spell and there's no such thing as a cfart department at walmart  Roll Eyes
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / can a cable TV station help name a baby? on: October 14, 2005 01:26:18 PM
idea borrowed from quartney: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=36077.0

i borrowed her idea, but to make it fit for my nephew... well, my town is small and doesn't have all those letters.  solution?  bring the camera to work.

Underneath, it says "Scenes from Cable-11, 2005"

i printed at 8x10, matted and framed it this morning, and will be giving it this weekend.  And just to show off...

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / do the amish ride harleys? or first t-shirt recon with no-so-disasterous results on: September 18, 2005 01:15:07 PM
so long story about the "finding" of this shirt... i work for a cable-tv company, and we had a live, all day broadcast from a local town over 4th of july.  saw a guy wearing this shirt, and a co-worker and i chased him down to find out where he got it.  fast forward a few months (i got the shirt early aug and just got to it now) and i got itchy for a change...

the original shirt...

kind of boring, kind of boxy, kind of too boy-ish

and after i took the scissors to it...

ripped out the sides and replaced them with white t-shirt fabric, redid the neck line, and changed the shoulders/arms... pattern was another harley shirt that i own and love the fit of.

heh, lancaster county choppers...  our cable company is in lancaster county/amishland PA Wink  also bought one for my dad and my brother (and they'll get them next weekend).  my co-worker wears his at least once a week
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / for invader zim fans... the Gir shirt! on: September 02, 2005 01:00:20 PM
yay, gir!  found a pic i loved online at "Room with a Moose & Gir" http://www.roomwithamoose.com/goodies/printables/color_girdogsit.gif and was inspired by this project: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=50089.msg470337#msg470337, to make this...

Close up

There's a "Hanes" logo under and to the right of Gir that i'm planning on covering up, but wanted to finish it in time for the green day show on 9/1.  just embroidered the image, and went over the embroidery with a strand of the same color thread (my embroidery wasn't all that even).  finally, a gir of my very own Smiley
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / misc. recent wall art on: September 02, 2005 12:49:18 PM
i don't remember when i finished these, but it was sometime this year...

"Forever, for always, and no matter what."  saw in a magazine once upon a time and didn't want to spend $50 plus shipping on it.  used a piece of wood and wood letters found at ac moore.  painted the piece brown, then crackle medium, then cream paint

embroidered wall art...
found in a craft magazine years ago, everything hand sewn

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."  was a pillow found in a country shop, but again, i'm too cheap to pay for something just to rip it apart and put it on my wall...
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Not Ren Faire accurate men's shirt on: July 13, 2005 04:53:12 PM
i have owed my best friend this shirt for about three years now and finally got around to making it.  my sewing machine was being extremely cranky at the time, so it's all hand sewn.  those gathers can be real buggers...

i'll be sure to post her reaction when she finally sees it.  she doesn't even know i started or finished it.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dressform... lamp? on: July 13, 2005 04:46:18 PM
mom and dad gave me this dressform when i moved into my first apartment.  yes, she came naked.  my last apartment was quite dark... so i lit her up.  she's strung with about three strings of white christmas lights, which are held on with fishing line.  she's a little too bright for my current apartment.. one of these days i'll get around to re-stringing her.

and mrs. claus was an... ahem... parting gift from a former apartment.
