1  piano key bracelet (first finished object!) in Needlework: Completed Projects by lxlsonialxl on: December 15, 2007 09:08:32 PM
i have extreme ADD when it comes to projects- i'll have four hundred bazillion UFOs of knitting laying around at one time.
this tiny piece took me forever- actually, i'm sure if i sat down and stayed focused, it would have took me a weekend or two, but no- it's more like four or five keys a day every couple of weeks if i felt like it or knew where it was hiding.  Grin . overall, it took me and my lethally short attention span a good three months to complete- a sign i should use bigger count adia fabric. lol

i made it for a friend who's been having a rough time lately- i decided to sit down and gather up all my attention and finish it so it'd be done in time for her moving into her new house.
she's a pianist, and loves it, so i'll use the unavoidable cheesy remark all pianist use for mushy labors of love. "you hold the keys to my heart!"

oh yeah, i totally see big cheesy smile in my near future  Cheesy
action shot!

on a pile of origami roses!(didn't set it up for the photo and take a million shots, i swear! -shifty eyes-)

and on my carpet! (if you look very closely, you can see the horribly botched one stitch high lettering that made up as stitching and i hope no one else can read- it says "KATRINA XOXO", a lucky eleven space fit, though i'm starting to think i should have put a different four letter word/symbol now, whoops. if you can't make it out, the orchid colored floss doesn't show up like it does in person. all i can see are the warm violet ones)

tell me what you think- i hope to make my next project a little less tedious, this almost made me go NUTS!

2  the super-simple-no-sew-last-resort-instant purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lxlsonialxl on: December 15, 2007 08:39:31 PM
i should mention now, that i'm not much of the clutch or handbag type person- i like the single bag i own on its gigantic, body crossing strap, laying one third down my leg, sloppily flying around as i run and frolic in search of my next adventure.
which isn't really a bad thing, until your school's super beast orchestra gets invited to play as entertainment at the state executive mansion for the billion-jillion kids that come and take a tour, and you need a bag that doesn't get in the way of your viola case which is about 5/8 of my entire five foot and a half inch-ish existence.
so i spent most of my day before the performance thinking of some method of carrying all my goodies and entertainment for the hour long bus trip it takes to get there, and this is what i came up with:
a super simple last resort instant purse that required no sewing for the sake of my klutzy hands and short attention span! i don't even know if this counts as a purse, or something. if not, i'm sure someone'll bring it to my attention  Roll Eyes
1. get a handkerchief, and stick all of your goodies in the center of it.

2. snugly tie two ends on opposite corners together, and make a square knot (i'm not sure if i'm using that knot here, but i'd recommend it  Cheesy i totally lead by example.)

3. finish by tying the remaining two ends together with another square knot, just this time at the VERY tips, and VOILA! instant purse! just stick your arm through the hole you

sitting on my doorknob,

and the action shot! (there's no hall light, whoops.)
