21  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Dinosaurs and animals drinking tea and practicing good dental hygiene! on: February 03, 2010 10:09:01 AM
Sometimes when my sister and I hang out at her place we end up painting. This series was dictated by my six-year-old niece, who said she wanted a werewolf brushing his teeth and a bat drinking tea. So her mom did those two and I did the accompanying pieces which have dinosaurs instead. I love having a niece who likes werewolves and dinosaurs. Cheesy

We used acrylics and some wood boards I got at the hardware store.

And here are two others that I did in the same format.

"Robbie" + "Fireflies"

WOW. I made a couple of these for the last book release party and I know they're a fair amount of work! Awesome job on making them all so unique, you did a great job on the different designs and the tags are super cute. Cheesy I love the broken Ron wand!
23  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Easy Peasy 2 Swap Gallery!!! on: June 06, 2009 08:57:09 AM
Woah, that's a weird coincidence, you making a reading pillow just a little bit before! I had actually started a pair of socks, my first pair, thinking I could finish them in three weeks. Cheesy Oh silly past self! Yeah, I was about halfway done with one sock when it was one week to the send date so I scrapped them for another time. So the reading pillow was a last minute inspiration, I saw one online and thought it looked like something you could put to use. Smiley I'm really glad you like it, thanks for the awesome package and thanks to our organizers for the wonderful swap!

Okay, here's the amazing package I received from stitch81 a couple days ago! She totally outdid herself and made me three things! Shocked

First off, gorgeous resin earrings with awesome blue sparkles inside.

Blarghy action shot of earrings.  Smiley

And I have to admit this is my favorite thing, a beautiful sparkly blue cameo resin necklace, I don't even know how she did this but the result is gorgeous!

And last but not least, this totally rad shirt with totoros on it!! Sorry for no action shot, I had to wear it yesterday to show my niece so now it's in the wash. Grin

Thank you sooo much to stitch81 and our wonderful organizers!

Man, I haven't posted on here in ages! I've been really into working on my project, it's probably not technically a 'medium' item but I know my partner will love it and it's been a really great learning experience for me. I just hope I can finish in time! Grin

Man, I'm getting antsy to craft, maybe I'll do some practice/warm-up crafts just to hold me over.  Roll Eyes
30  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: My first original - Flapjack! on: April 28, 2009 11:18:33 AM
This is amazing! My sister and I, and funnily enough her daughter less so, are HUGE fans of Flapjack! I record episodes so we can watch them together, it's just the most awesomely offbeat show and it hearkens back to the old days of cartoons before they became all crappy and merchandised. And I really admire your skills on this doll, crocheting confuses me and I'm always jealous because us knitters can't make such amazing shapes and curves. Wonderful job! Grin
