Hehe, this just goes to show how creative everyone on these boards is.  Anthropologie has really cute stuff, but WAY overpriced.  I usually use expensive clothes as a way to get good ideas so i can make my own stuff.  Poverty sure does help get the wheels turnin! haha

I am really liking the new seventies looking vesty type things that are getting popular.  I am a pretty accomplished knitter, but I am not comfortable making up my own patterns, so can anyone help me find a pattern for something like these?

Thanks for the recipe! I love brownies...drool... . By the way, I made homemade seitan last weekend and it was really really easy, plus the ingredients to make a ton of seitan only cost about 2 dollars.  I used some of the seitan to make General Tso's Seitan, and OH MY GOD, it was delicious.  General Tso's is my all time favorite chicken dish so I was thrilled that I could replicate it.  Let me know if anyone wants the recipe.

Forevr Bee- Thats awesome that you are willing to try new things! My dad won't try anything that he knows has tofu in it.  Of course I have him taste stuff and omit the fact that there is tofu in it, but he doesn't need to know that I have sooo been wanting to try seitan, I've never had it!  I have a recipe to make it from scratch, which is a lot cheaper than buying it.  I have a dream of making awesome General Tso's Seitan.  Would it work in a chicken recipe, or does it really taste a lot like sausage?

My older brother is turning 22 pretty soon and I have no clue what to get him for his birthday.  I am seriously short on funds so I want to make him something, but I have noooo idea!  He's gay, really into music (classical if that makes a difference) and he is an anthropology major.  I know that probably doesn't help, but if any of you have any ideas, please let me know!!

Yes, a lot of the recipes call for a lot of maple syrup.  I understand, I live in Texas, there aren't any maple syrup farms near me!! Actually I bought this book after going vegan, and I love desserts so I tried a few recipes.  Actually both recipes I made weren't any good, so my advice would be to hold off on buying this book unless you find it for really cheap.  Are you looking for a cookbook for just vegan desserts or just a vegan cookbook.  If you want a vegan cookbook and you don't have them already, I highly highly recommend How it All Vegan and Garden of Vegan by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard.  I've made a lt of breads and desserts from those books and they always come out delicious.
