Thanks Squirrelly that's really helpful. I guess the thing to do is be cheeky and email asking if they'll mark the package 'gift' - worth a try at least  £18 is apparently $31 (just looked at reuters website) which is enough to get a few yards of fabric, assuming they don't include the $9 or so postage charge in the total value!

Just wondering how much you can spend before your parcel is liable for customs charges - I have bought fabric from a US website before and when it arrived I had to pay the post office an extra £9 Would like to buy again but does it have to be under a certain amount of dollars?

I'm making pretty fabric lavender bags for xmas pressies this year. Just wondering where people buy their dried lavender (shops or online) as I'll need quite a bit If anyone can suggest other nice-smelling fillings too I'd be mucho grateful!
