1  Re: help? what sorts of candies/foods are unique to the US? in Recipes and Cooking Tips by rosali on: December 02, 2006 06:19:30 AM
I'm from the UK and know we can't get Circus Cookies here, which is a crying shame as I love them!

Also s'mores and, while we DO have reese's peanut butter cups here, we don't have the cookie version, which are yum!

The best things we have here in the UK (in my sweet-loving opinion Tongue) are:
Flumps
Sherbet dips
Vimto bars
Black jacks/fruit salad sweets
Rhubarb and custard sweets
Terry's chocolate orange bars
Raspberry and milk Drumstick lollies
Galaxy chocolate

oh wow! I love the one of Stanley!

Hehe he was playing with my tape measure when I took a photo; here's the original pic so you can see how great eenodol's rendering is!

Look at the gorgeousness I received from crnaofca... after the first package went missing she sent me a whole new one!

First, the softest ribbed cotton panta:

I've been wanting one for ages and I'm so pleased to get one from crnaofca now as her knitting is flawless. This is also demonstrated by gift #2...

...A beautiful beanie!

The picture really doesn't do it justice; again she used lovely cotton yarn and the detailing is amazing. It fits like a dream and it's just starting to get freezing here in England so I'll be getting a lot of use out of it Smiley

As if that wasn't enough, she also sent me a super-cute wallet, and made me a map brooch (like one on my wists but better!)

Close up:

Crnaofca thank you so much! You're one awesomely talented lady and top of my list of must-swap-with-again craftsters Kiss

7  Re: small make-up case - also zipper help please!!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rosali on: October 29, 2006 02:21:21 PM
Don't be disheartened; that looks so cute! I am awful at following patterns and just make up my own ways of sewing since I don't have anyone to teach me Cheesy
I sew my vertical edges together down with the pouch inside out, through the ends of the zip (where there's no more metal teeth but 1/2 inch or so of zipper left):

I sooo can't draw but you've got a brown zipper and the 'wrong' side of the fabric is green. Once you've done step 2 (trimmed the edges) you turn the pouch inside out and voila you're done!

To add a lining you just need to make another pouch of the same dimensions. Turn it inside out so the 'good' side is facing in then put it inside your original pouch and attach at the top. Like a bag inside a bag Smiley

Here's the awesomely pretty journal catpants made me:

The days of the week are printed inside to keep me organized - I like being able to 'see' the week ahead. And look at the sweet card she sent with it Smiley

I love it - thanks again Tracy!!

Wow that panta is a gorgeous colour on you Miss Mermaid!

I received my "cheer the heck up" surprise package from pinkangel1979 today.
First up, a scissor necklace like one on my wist, which I adore:

Pampering treats including a cool massage roller which I just tested on my cat... she looked bemused yet contented, wish I'd got a pic.

And finally lovely green fabric, notecards (her speciality!) with chimps on and an adorable felt pouch filled with cheer-up ideas. My fave is "eat some chocolate" - that's my kinda logic Grin

Thanks for everything Christine you're awesome Kiss

10  Re: Quilting foot help in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by rosali on: October 02, 2006 09:04:09 AM
Thank you so much for the replies ladies! Yesterday I was passing the shop where I bought machiney so popped in and asked at the counter - the lady checked out the display model of my machine and it comes with a metal rod thing that looks like this for spacing quilt stitches:

I've found it so now I've just gotta find the manual and have a play around see how it works  Cheesy
