11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New green bag! on: July 08, 2005 04:37:56 PM
Two very good friends of mine are moving away to live on a sailboat.  I made this as a going away present for one of them.

My friend is Irish and she loves green!

I added 3 pockets.

I sewed in a clear vinyl pocket and put in a photo of all of us taken  last New Years.

I also stenciled a pirate t-shirt for her husband.  I'll post a photo of it in the stencil forum!

13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: TUTORIAL for Personalized Labels! on: July 05, 2005 04:48:53 PM
Hi!  Just gotta say awesome tutorial!  I wanted to share what I do to stop ribbons from fraying.  I use a cigarette lighter and (VERY CAREFULLY) melt the edge.  Just be careful you don't burn your house down! Wink

What in the world are all of these jordy bags i'm hearing about. what makes them so popular personally i dont see whats so special
 Huh
Hi!
Someone named "The Jordy" posted a tutorial on how to make flat bottomed bags a couple of years ago.  I guess that is why they are called Jordy Bags.  The tutorial is really popular because it is easy to do and you can make so many variations.  Even someone who is no great genius at sewing (like me) can do it.  Plus it's fun! I agree with her,  sell them on your own and you will get more money out of them.!!!  Make a logo there is a tute on her on making your one labels,  do that then you will start having a name for your-self.  BTW  yours are much better than Monica Lewinsky's.

Thank you very much!  That is very good advice.  I went to Walmart and got some "Print-n-Press" and I will make myself some labels.  Norah Nadine Boutique or something like that.  I am very excited about trying this!

P.S.  Monica Lewinsky makes bags?!

Hi everyone!  This is my first post so I hope I get it right.  I made these bags on Sunday and I really like how they turned out!  Smiley (Thanks Jordy!!!) Smiley   The pink one has 6 pockets on the outside.  The green one doesn't have any pockets.  I gave the green one to my sister and she suggested I make more and try selling them on e-bay.  I need your advice on that.  Do you think they are good enough to try to sell?  Also, what do you think I should ask for?  Thanks!

I put heavy interfacing on both the outside and on the lining so it holds it's shape.

I also put it in the handles and an extra 2 layers on the bottom so it is nice and stiff.

I double stitched all the seams so they should be fairly sturdy.

What a FAB bag!  I have been trying to find something just like that for my sister.  Is there any chance you could send me a copy of the pattern? Smiley
