I found your tutorial yesterday and this afternoon I made a wallet to go along with the purse I made for my best friend's 50th birthday. I can't believe how easy your tutorial was, and I plan to make lots more! Thank you SO much!
The shiny rectangular thing is just glare from my label. In real life it is black with white print.
I love how it turned out and thanks again for sharing your great tutorial!
I just LOVE how this turned out! OK. The ribbon snap thingy could have been centered a bit better, but all in all a success! I took 4 kinds of ribbon and wove them together. Then I ironed on some fusible interfacing onto the back to hold it together while I sewed the ribbons for extra stability. That gave me a really cute looking "ribbon cloth". I made it into this: (It's alot brighter in real life.)
That green back is sooooooooo cute!! About the ribbon, how did you attach it? I tried attaching some sewing and maybe I just need more practice and I tried heavy fusible tape and it didn't work out too well....I tried selling my bags on ebay. You're better off sellling them on your own. You can even sell them on here I'm sure. I ended up losing money using ebay. No one bid on them (except one) and then I was flooded with emails after the auctions ended wanting to know if I would sell them for cheaper! It was frustrating b/c people don't understand how much time goes into some bags and think it's going to be as cheap as something that is mass produced and purchased at Walmart for $5. Ok I'll step off my soap box. Again, great bags! Very very cute!
Thanks!
I sewed the ribbon onto the front half of the outside fabric (there isn't any ribbon on the back) before I sewed the outside fabric onto the lining. I think you are right about e-bay. I decided to try to sell my bags on my own. I got a website up but now I am trying to find a way to get it out there.
Yeah, I used heavy fusible interfacing on both the outer fabric and on the lining. I put an extra layer on the bottoms to stiffen them up. On my last bag I glued a piece of stiff felt inside the bottom and it worked really well. Have fun making them!
I just finished putting a website together using Freeservers.com (Yes, it's really generic but it is my first try at a website.) and if I type the address in it comes up just fine, but if I try doing a search it just won't come up. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Here's the site: http://norahnadine.4t.com
I agree with smoon26. It looks awesome as it is, but a simple row of either clear or white beads would be a nice touch. It really is a LOVELY bag! I am sure you will have lots of comments at the show!
