I'm not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post this but I hope so, lol.  This is the first in a series, these tutorials are not for sale, are my intelictual property, etc etc.

Ok, not my best tutorial ever or video taking for that matter but it'll give y'all the basic idea of how to make an A line hippyish dress using elastic thread at the bodice  This movie is almost 11 minutes long and covers everything  pretty much start to finish and how to use elastic thread ::: nod ::: great stuff.

If you have any questions post them here and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Note in the video I have the bodice measurement at 45 inches, I really should have done 50 inches (remember there's elastic involved so it will still fit my 40ish chest measurement)

Note: when using 60 wide fabric  your fabric layout will be like this... selvages will be the top or bottom

I thought it might be fun to have an Egyptian themed jewelry swap if anyone is interested.  I've loved Egyptian history since I was 5 and took home a book as thick as an encyclopedia on it, lol.  I had wanted to be an archaeologist when I grew up but that hasn't happened as of yet so I watch a lot of discovery channel instead 

Anyhoo, I thought this might be fun to organize and if people were interested sign ups could start say on the 22nd of April to May 1st when partners would be chosen and sendout would be no later than May 15th.  I was thinking earrings, necklace and bracelet so folks would have a set.

Anyone?  Suggestions?  Questions?  Ideas?

I was thinking that since summer is almost here (already feels like it's here some days in Florida, lol) that it would be really cool for everyone to have a new dress for summer that they didn't have to make themselves.  I myself am a bit of a bohemian/hippy/new ager style person and love the beautiful hippy, patchwork, and appliqué dresses that I've seen online but still don't have one   Soooo... I started thinking, wouldn't it be fun if there were a "hippy" dress swap.  Participants would make 1 dress for their partner based on measurements, favorite things, etc.

Ok, it took me a few days to get this up here (I had to figure out how to resize the photos in my new graphics program, lol) but here are the pictures of the items that I did for my friend Coyotelady's wedding which was on Saturday (congratulations again suz!!)

First up we have my daughters tube dress, I used elastic thread for the bodice.



coyotelady's purple padme Picnic dress.  I had her purchase her corset, but the chemise, skirt and cape were made by me


and the gift basket that my friend Sara and I gave her.  I embroidered the towels in this basket


and just in case anyone wonders what I was wearing,lol

Signups would start in a couple weeks as I'm in the middle of a swap at the moment and mailout would be the beginning of May so that everyone could start enjoying just before summer.

Hey all, I'm still a newbie here and am a fresh newbie to my Futura (it just arrived today, lol) I did a test design (after watching directions, reading directions, etc) and this is what I embroidered
