1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Identifying stones/beads on: June 28, 2010 11:25:08 AM
Hey All!  I went to the Gem and Jewelry show up here in MI and found some really amazing sales.  There were booths with 70% of Swarovski!  I picked up a few strands of beads and I'm not really sure what they are.  I was hoping that some gifted gemologists out there could help me.

This first one look like really low quality amethyst with inclusions.  They are polished and fairly solid little stones.  I'm not sure what they are though.

These next remind me of moonstones with their iridescent color and smooth surfaces.

These may just be polished stone or beads but I love them.  They are electric purple and have the same sheen that the previous ones do.

These look like tiger's eye but I know they aren't.

Finally, these look like jade or little skittles!  I have no idea on them

THANKS!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Chainmail leaf necklace on: June 20, 2010 05:27:09 PM
I am so proud of this necklace!  It took me a lot of time to get the leaf exactly how I wanted it and the design went through a few phases before I figured out exactly how I wanted it to end up.

The chain is a 2 by 1 of two different sized rings and the leaf is a modified Japanese 12-in-1.  It was so hard getting them to stay all together!  They are anodized aluminum though so it's pretty soft and easy to manipulate.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Scarlet and Silver Earrings on: June 16, 2009 04:28:55 PM
So in my quest to challenge myself and create more , I have come up with these chandalier earrings.  I love these types of earrings, but I don't like it when they are very fragile, I like mine a little heftier!  lol

Here are a few pics:

And a closeup on one of them:

And I also have started experimenting with wire rings.  I love rings and just recently found a great tutorial.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Goldenrod Earring and Necklace set on: June 15, 2009 06:59:17 PM
I have a new set (and a new digital camera!  Thank goddess for good luck and sales).

They are sort of goldenrod inspired since they are made from yellow glass beads and light wooden tunnel beads.

Comments and gentle critiques please!  (I had a hard day...lol)
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 2 Wire Wrapped Pendants!! on: June 12, 2009 05:30:30 AM
Hey everyone, I've been trying to craft a lot more recently because I finally have time and because I have been wanting to open more own shop for a while.  (Finally did!  I'm soooo nervous!)  But anyway...here are my first two pieces:

This is my first one.  A three tiered, orange polished stone pendant.  I stole these from my partner who found them when he was cleaning his room at home!

Here's a close up of the stones:

The other one is a single teal polished stone.  I love this one because the stone starts dark at the edge and fades to a pale green/yellow in the center.

Here's the closeup:

C&C welcome and appreciated!

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My first chainmail projects on: February 12, 2009 04:52:17 PM
Hey everyone!  Now that I finally have access to a camera that works, I might as well share what I have done lately.  I've been getting really into chainmail, hopefully as a little money maker on the side once I get really good at it.  So here are my first two projects.  Tell me what you think!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / 18 th birthday Please help on: November 05, 2005 04:22:26 PM
So I'm turning 18 on Nov. 25th but I want to have the party on the 19th to avoid the whole Thanksgiving thing.  It'll probably only be about 6-10 people...depending on which friends want to give up a nite of screwing their bfs for a party.  I just don't have any idea on how to go about planning it, what food to get, what music to play, and what entertainment to provide.  Specs about me: i love vampires, supernatural stuff (not Buffy type stuff) I love Alt rock and hard rock and none of my friends have food allergies (although my bf doesn't like chocolate).  Anyone have any ideas?  Please help
