1  New York / New York: Central / Re: moving to Utica! on: May 16, 2007 04:16:31 PM
Awesome! I'm totally stoked about the coffee and crafts, two of my favorite things! I just started getting into crafting since living in the frozen north and am looking forward to having a community of crafters to draw on for support, inspiration, etc. Right now, it's just me and one other person!

Thanks for the scoop on craft stores and hangouts, it's exactly what I needed to hear. If I move back, it will be this summer after 10 years away from Central NY. So while I'm familiar with the area, it's been a while!
2  New York / New York: Central / moving to Utica! on: May 15, 2007 10:51:29 AM
hey y'all!
I might be moving to Utica soon and i've been trolling the web trying to find some cool stuff going on and it seems like i've found the right place! Looks like Utica's got a decent craft scene, at least more kickin' than Fairbanks, Alaska, where I'm living now...I grew up in the Syracuse area, so i'm familiar with Central NY but must admit i've spent almost zero time in Utica...
Any advice for me? Where are the cool hangouts?
hope to be there in time for the indie garage sale july 7! cheers!

i'm glad i waited before jumping onto the etsy bandwagon...i just started my shop today!
caffeinated.etsy.com
only i haven't put much on it, only a few record bowls...sigh...
is there any way to customize the shop more than what they provide on the site? (i'm new to this whole thing)

8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Pippi Longstocking - wire for braids? on: October 22, 2006 07:24:22 PM
I've got long hair and i did the wire hanger thing a few years back...the only trouble i had was remembering to move sideways when going through doorways! ha! but it worked awesome and stayed in the whole night! I just unbent the hanger, shaped it over my head and braided around it. it was fun to do weird twisty things to the braids. Have fun!
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: moose costume ideas?? on: October 22, 2006 07:21:38 PM
Nice! being in alaska, I see moose all the time! Think cow, but brown (in your case, blue!) and with antlers. I guess if you could find a pattern for a cow costume, go with that.
sounds adorable!
10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: problems with emulsion on: October 05, 2006 03:31:10 PM
Yeah, i have a feeling that's what it is...
Since I live in Fairbanks, Alaska, the natural sunlight option isn't a good one right now (it's been too cloudy and we don't get a lot of strong, direct light this time of year) but i'm borrowing a 500 watt bulb from a friend and that will be the next step!

Thanks for the feedback and I'll keep ya posted!
