1  A 1950's muffintop-covering bathingsuit. in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by hobaker on: February 04, 2009 09:33:38 PM
I'm looking for a pattern for a bathing suit like this.

I just saw Gidget again for like the upteenth time and am gonna start rearing up for summer!

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a basic pattern? All I'm finding are decayed overpriced stuff at vintage websites.

The pattern itself doesn't have to be vintage, just the style.  Smiley

It is amazing how clean you got the edges of his head/bust ... did you create your own picture or get a stencil from somewhere?

Oh and your mom looks like she would be a hoot to be around ...with her cute finger puppets of the Obamas.

Great job!

I used the ol' 'uploading-a-picture-in-microsoft-word-and-mess-with-it'-trick.

3  Biden is my boyfriend in Stenciling: Completed Projects by hobaker on: October 01, 2008 11:10:57 AM
My mom's birthday was sept 11. She's politic-crazed right now.

She really really likes the democratic vice presidential candidate Joe biden, so i made her a shirt. Smiley

Look how happy she is!

Here's the stencil I made;

[It's got those funny lines because i scanned it from notebook paper. :/]

(My sister and I also made her little finger puppets. There one of Barack and Michelle Obama and John andCindy McCain. Cheesy )

4  Re: TAKS soaps. :3 in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by hobaker on: May 04, 2008 09:13:09 PM
Here's some snapshots of the little minties before I wrapped them up in the red tissue paper.
I made eight total and alot of people asked me to make more!

(You can see part of my Grover purse in the top picture! Hehe.)

On the front on the card is a little note:
("Good luck this week! Here's some peppermint to keep your mind awake and make this TAKS period not as sucks as it's bound to be!")

...and, on the back, I put bunch of little trivia bits about the health benefits, origin, and mythology of peppermint. :3

5  TAKS soaps. :3 [Gift pics on page 2] in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by hobaker on: April 29, 2008 03:06:53 PM
The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills is this week. It's a Texas statewide mandated test that's part of the 'No Child Left Behind' business.
Students and teachers alike loathe it, so, to make the experience not so bad, I made peppermint-smelling soaps for my friends! I hear that peppermint stimulates your noodle, so I'll be buying them little mints too.

Maybe i'll make them all cute with little cards and such. Who knows!

This is my first soap project!
 Grin

Some artsy-fartsy stuff;

Cooling (I'm so impatient!);

Having more fun;

The whole gang!;

I plan on continuing this; this is so much fun! Maybe someday i'll graduate from melt and pour though. Haha.

6  The Perfectly Promy-Pink NIGHTMARE [New picture!] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hobaker on: April 24, 2008 05:00:16 PM
 Seeing as how I've been working at the costume shop at a theme park as of late, I've had alot of costumes at my disposal.
   And seeing as how my prom was right around the corner, it seemed like the perfect idea to snatch up [completely legally. I borrowed it and they're totally aware that i did. Cheesy] one of the cutest pink petticoats they usually use for shows and make a perfect prom dress!

  The skirt was just pink satin with a black overlay, no pattern really.
  The top was made from a vinage Burda pattern, although I did end up removing the cups and opting for underwire supported jobs.

[EDIT] It's so funny that you guys pointed out the Molly Ringlwald thing, because my name actually is Molly!  Grin

  The dress [front];

  The top is supported by your run-of-the-mill plastic boning. The pink satin is actaully under a layer of the same light black meshy stuff as is on the skirt, just to give it more dimension.

  The dress[back];

  I really love the large bow in the back; you can't really see it here that well.
What was so annoying about this was that the back panel actually pops off with the bow on a series of large costume snaps we usually use for quick changes on stage.
Underneath the panel is a bunch of loops for lacing. It was so hard to sit and eat!

 I'm the ultimate procrastinator; I sewed in the finishing touches two hours before I got picked up!

  THE GIANT PETTICOAT;

  One for fun;

  And another;

  Waiting for prince charming....;

  This can't be him. o_o';

  Awww;

  The pink suspenders were my idea. Cheesy

  My brother does not approve of this match;

  Hehe;

And the last one!;

  I hope you guys like it! It took me two weeks off and on and was worth it! So many people thought it was adorable and apparently the two of us became an 'it' couple. Can you believe it? Ha ha!

8  The Ex-Boyfriend Dress! x_x in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by hobaker on: August 01, 2006 06:57:58 PM
I wear it when I feel bitter about how much of a douche he was. Sad

It's made from a shirt he wore and a shirt I bought just because it was a band he liked. Bah.
My bitterness spawned this little number.

Front

Back

I can't help but think this is an unhealthy way to deal with sadness. Oh well. <3 sewing.  Grin

9  Pollution=cuteness! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by hobaker on: July 23, 2006 03:48:02 PM
I painted up an old shirt for a friend. It started out as just being me painting all over it, but turned into a preachy anti-pollution shirt.

How can you pollute if it makes the clouds sad?!

I might add some other stuff. Maybe some lace someplace.

Oh! Edit! Action shot! She's wearing it!

10  Totoro shirt, first try at stenciling. in Stenciling: Completed Projects by hobaker on: July 03, 2005 06:57:43 AM
Stencil from stecilry+Black and brown mixed paint+Red shirt=An awesome Totoro shirt

Once I saw the stencil, I knew I had to make a shirt. Totoro was the first anime I ever saw. :B

Yay. ^_^

Edit: If you use sewing needles to pin down the 'islands', it's pretty easy to paint if you remember to just keep goin up and down with the sponge brush.

:B
