1  Re: Punk/Psychobilly/Rockabilly Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by aliclimb on: April 25, 2006 02:23:18 PM
I got my swap package from pretendpeterpan yesterday.  My absolute favorite thing is the stencilled skully purse...It's definitely going with me next time I go out.

I also got a cute 50's inspired bracelet ...

And a little decoupaged box with a tattoo-style heart on top.  This is my new home for all my favorite earrings...

This has been a super fun swap!

2  Hurry up Spring armwarmers (right time of year!) in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by aliclimb on: February 01, 2006 03:04:41 PM
I wanted to make these armwarmers ever since picking up SnBN and finally got them done a couple weeks ago.  I love the color, they are definitely spring-y.  This was a super fun project, small enough to finish in a reasonable time, but with enough challenge to keep it interesting.  Cables are so cool!

Here's the left one in action...had to take the picture with my right.  Tongue

3  Intarsia, felting, novelty yarn, Bettie! in Knitting: Completed Projects by aliclimb on: February 01, 2006 02:58:49 PM
I was inspired by the Stitch n' Bitch poster boy bag, but wanted something sturdier. So, I knitted an intarsia image of Bettie Page, knitted a backside and bottom and seamed them all together and threw it in the washing machine. Voila! felted bag!  For the top trim, I knitted some boa yarn into a ring and sewed it on.  The purse handles were natural bamboo and I laquered them black to go better with the bag.  In the future I would probably not use Lamb's Pride to knit an intarsia image.  Because of the mohair content, Bettie had 5 o'clock shadow when she first emerged from the washing machine.  After blocking, I was able to fix that with a disposable razor (really!), but probably should have used a less fuzzy yarn in the first place.

and here's the inside of the bag.  Although you can't see it, the bottom was reinforced by sewing in a piece of plastic canvas so that it wouldn't sag.

4  Re: Winter Bag Swap Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by aliclimb on: December 30, 2005 08:25:10 AM
girlwonder received my bag last week, so I thought I'd go ahead and post pictures
I knitted and felted this bag, it's about 9 inches by 11 inches (more or less).  It's also got a magnetic snap, but my batteries died before I could get that picture.  Sad

The second photo shows more detail of the pinecone and the handle.

5  Re: The Little Visitor "I'm home!" Swap in The Swap Gallery by aliclimb on: November 22, 2005 01:02:00 PM
With a touch of sadness, I sent Pookie out today to go home to janer in Canada.  I think he's going to miss the big blue bear at the Colorado Convention Center...

He apparently found it somewhat inspiring.

7  Re: the craftiest scooter(s) ever! Post em' if you got em'! in Completed Projects by aliclimb on: November 02, 2005 10:53:34 AM
So here's the pic as promised.

I can buy a passenger seat for it, too, which I'll probably do soon.  It sure beats trying to find parking downtown when my hubby and I want to go out.

9  Re: the Little Visitor, I'd like you to meet... in The Swap Gallery by aliclimb on: September 29, 2005 11:38:57 AM
Here's Pookie...I'm afraid he's caught us in the middle of moving, so he's hanging out with a lot of boxes at the moment.  This weekend should be much more exciting.
