1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Blonde knitting joke.... on: April 07, 2006 07:31:11 AM
A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding car on the
freeway. Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blonde
behind the wheel was knitting! Realizing that she was oblivious to his
flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on
his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!" "NO!" the blonde yelled back, "IT'S A
SCARF!"

Beautiful...love the color. I like some Bernat yarns too, especially for baby stuff since its machine washable. New parents dont have time to hand-wash delicate hand knit items that get spit-up on all the time!  Your hoodie is spectacular, the blanket looks ultra-cozy, and the bear is so adorable! Im sure your gifts will be appreciated and loved because the time and careful detail you put into them. Plus they are practical and easy to care for which is a plus to the recipient!

Thank You SewPixie....those are perfect! And affordable since Im buying the sock part from a dollar store, I,ll end up paying alot less to actually make a few then I would from buying them already made from a store.
No 'Made in China' tags inside either!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: FREE downloadable *PDF Bernat pattern booklets on: March 10, 2006 09:08:52 PM
I chose the baby patterns for the baby blankets since I know people who are expecting and I like to make blankets....but they were all in crochet, good thing I know how to crochet.
So anyone doing this survey, they do give previews of the patterns available first so make sure to check them because some are knit and some are crochet.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: My Grandmother's Knitting. on: March 09, 2006 08:35:43 AM
Such touching stories...Thanks for sharing them. My grandma didnt knit but I have a picture of my great-grandmother with needles in hand. My grandmother crocheted and had made granny-square blankets for me and my brother and sisters in our favorite colors when we were kids. We loved those blankets and had them into our adult lives, but due to several moves and life changes we no longer have them or remember what happened to them. Im planning to re-make them (in the same colors) and give one to each of my siblings...as a replacement for our lost cherished blankies. Even if they are not used I know my siblings will appreciate the memories it will bring back.

Take a short survey at the link below and Bernat will email you a free PDF file pattern booklet. They have a few to choose from and you can get up to 2 if you complete the entire survey.
You have to be a member of the Bernat site first for this to work...so sign-up at Bernat.com first then click on this link to take the survey:

http://www.bernat.com/survey/index.php

Pattern(s) will be emailed to you in 5-7 days, and you have to have AdobeAcrobat reader to download them.

Has anyone seen these?  (picture of some at link below)

http://www.becki-lee.com/

I have seen them in a local store for $6 but Im wondering how easy these would be to make yourself. They look simple enough, but Im having trouble finding the smaller purse frames, about 2 inches in size. Does anyone know where these can be found?

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What knitting book? on: January 13, 2006 03:54:33 PM
In my opinion...a Must Have! I couldnt have afforded it until I got mine with a 1/2 off coupon at JoAnns.
...and it was the last copy on the shelf.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: book club... is it worth it? cheap knitting books? on: January 13, 2006 03:41:10 PM
I'm going to join that next week when I have my credit card to pay for the four books seeing as it's the only way to pay for anything on there,...............

P.S. to my last post (just saw your post Aelita).....I dont have a credit card and paid for my selections with a money order, but I had filled out one of their membership cards I had found in a craft magazine. The magazine ad had limited selections to choose from, so I tore it from the magazine (BAD ME..BAD!!)  lol  and took it home and found the selections I wanted online to fill it out. They sent the books, I sent in payment; and now I can order online and they ship what I want without requiring payment first. So if you prefer to pay without a credit card, it can be done. Just dont tell anyone else. You didnt hear this from me.   Tongue
