2  CANADA / Alberta / Call To Artists, New Edmonton Monthly Show on: March 02, 2009 04:15:07 PM
Call for Artists

The Handmade Mafia is looking for vendors interested in attending a monthly craft show. The show is to be held the first Saturday of every month, making it Edmonton and areas only monthly indie show.

The Down and Dirty:

Who: You, come become part of the family. We want ONLY handmade items made by you.

What: This is an indie show to help support all of us, small local crafters/makers extraordinaire! We want the feeling of a collective; our Mafia is not one of criminals but one of people sharing a common interest looking out for each other as our own family.

When: First show is scheduled for April 4th from 10-4pm at both Savoy & Orange Hall. This market will happen every 1st Saturday of the month Theres no stopping us!

Where: Both Savoy and Orange Hall, allowing for cross promotion and a craft walk feel for shoppers.

The cost of table is $40/Saturday. We are also looking for a few volunteers to help with postering the city and possibly a few other things. If you scratch our back we are willing to scratch yours!

There is a possibility of having a space in the Orange hall where shoppers can come in and make their own craft. Whether this will be one type of craft for all to make or just having some crafty things available for them to get creative with- we are currently unsure about. We are looking for your input on this as well as if you may have some old crafty bits you are not using that you would donate for this cause.

Both Ally and Amy are extremely excited about this show and have big plans for it. We promise to work hard and make this a great show for us all.

Contact either Amy: amyjedgar@hotmail.com
Or Ally: msallyng@gmail.com

We hope to have all interested applicants confirm by the 21st of each prior month. We understand it may not be possible to attend every month but we think this is great as it allows for a rotation of crafters.

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / First Attempt at Cold Process Soap on: April 09, 2006 01:03:06 PM
Hey everyone! This is my first attempt at CP soap and I think it actually worked!!

Heres a picture of a bar they are just starting there cure today. I made this soap from olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, lye, and vanilla.

Hey any pro soapers do you all know if real vanilla extract is ok to use in soap? I didnt expect this to turn out so I just made it as a tiral. Also do you think it looks like it worked?? Ive used some of the trimming and it lathers so nicely and is soft and gentle but the smell is not that great Sad Any tips on how to get a great smelling bar with natural ingrediants at a lower cost??
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / New Magnet Ideas on: March 20, 2006 10:14:05 AM
Hey everyone! Ive been currently trying to get out of the marble magnet making and into something new. Im looking to make some magnets on something fairly hard but light wieght.

Im making some fun magnets that are on recycled business card magnets but they can be bent and the clear coat I put ontop then cracks. Does anyone have any ideas of things to make magnets on that are fairly cheap and lightweight?? I am thinking polymer clay but am looking for some other suggestions as well!!

Thank You all!

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a spinner on: February 18, 2006 10:08:25 AM
Hi there,
Im thinking about finding someone to use as a supplier for handspun yarn, It is so beautiful and I have not yet had the wonderful experience of using such yarn as well.
I dont want to start spinning my own yarn quite yet and would like to start making some things to sell from it. I am looking for someone that I would only buy my yarn from them everytime and am hoping that it would be reasonably priced, I would include proper recognition to the spinner and maybe potentially bring you more clients as well.

If anyone is interested please let me know, Id want to start with some smaller samples and we could go from there!

Thanks
Amy
