
Not having a job or money at the moment, I needed to make something for my mother for mother's day from things I already had. I have had this skirt for six years and I only wore it once! But I loved the fabric, which was why I couldn't get rid of it.
It was heavily pleated so I cut off the top band to make a long rectangle of fabric and used some old curtain fabric that a friend had given me as a lining- a lime green canvas-like material. This gave the bag a great structure. I took apart the top band to get rid of the bottom part of the skirt and hand-sewed it back together to make the "latch" and the strap.
The bag is 13" tall, 12" wide and 3" deep. Great size for magazines, which my mom loves!
