21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / 2 new bracelets (4 pictures) on: June 19, 2006 07:35:49 AM
inspired by the beads themselves:

and inspired by a post that i don't have a link to, but it was their first "attempt" at memory wire, which was better than ANY of my attempts, let alone the first:

23  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / 2 bracelets, 2 pairs of earrings, and a necklace on: June 15, 2006 08:43:32 AM
the bracelets have beads that are drilled on both sides, so they have 2 pieces of beadalon through them

black (beads given to me by my oma, my guess is they used to be a bracelet, anyways) and blue (i can't remember where i got them...):

the earrings both have magnetic hematite, it sticks to the other beads, even in the other earrings, and to the chain i used:

and the necklace.  this is my favorite, i remade it from a necklace someone was going to purchase, but never did.  the old one had the hematite disks that are in the earrings now (and just sitting around) and was much heavier.  this is a gift to my guy friend who just graduated from high school.  he was our drum major, and he says he can never find a necklace that he likes:

and on me (he's a skinny guy, so it'll be a bit longer on him):

thanks for looking!

as always, please comment!

25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / inexpensive way to display bracelets! WITH TUT! on: June 11, 2006 02:18:17 PM
i guess it could be modified to be taller and hold necklaces, too  Cheesy

the finished product!

Tutorial

Materials
toilet paper rolls
duct tape roll
more duct tape (grey will do)
scissors
colored duct tape/scrapbook paper/origami paper/fabric/etc.

Step 1:  run out of duct tape and toilet paper

Step 2:  cut half-circles out from the duct tape roll exactly across from each other, large enough to fit a toilet paper roll halfway in (if you tend to be a perfectionist like me, you can use a compass [the kind you use in geometry] to make it almost exact)

Step 3:  tape toilet paper rolls to duct tape roll until a nuclear bomb couldn't get them apart (you might run out of tape again)

Step 4:  cover in colored duct tape/scrapbook paper/origami paper/fabric/etc. until all original tape and cardboard is no longer visible.

Step 5:  display your bracelets!

please post your results if you choose to make one!
26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / yet more earrings, 2 pairs on: June 11, 2006 11:28:53 AM
sorry in advance for blurry "action shots".  it's hard to take pictures of your own ear.

the beads on this first one were actually taken off extra bead trim my mom used for her curtains.

side by side:

on (boy am i pale, you can hardly see the beads!):

with hand behind so you can see there are, in fact, beads there:

green and black, my two favorite colors!

of course, please comment!
27  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / chain=pain (or why i now hesitate to make complex earrings) on: June 10, 2006 09:44:39 AM
my hands are killing me, and my eyes aren't used to looking at such small things...

side by side:

better representation of the colors:

action! (excuse the messy hair)

as always, comments are appreciated!

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 2 music-themed wallets made of scrapbook paper on: June 09, 2006 04:06:27 PM
i think this is where this goes, mods if not please move it

front:

back/closure:

open:

inside:

and the second one, it has pockets for cards and a clear on on the left for a driver's license once i can finally get it
front (the back looks pretty much the same, and closes the same way as the first wallet):

open:

money!

comments welcomed, i will be trying to make more wallets out of different paper to seem like an almost non-band geek  Shocked  but that might not happen
30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / summer break+money from babysitting=new beads and jewelry! on: June 09, 2006 03:26:21 PM
also, summer break=swimming, but that's another story.

my neighbors are great, and most have little kids too young to stay by themselves. Grin  i babysat for 6 1/2 hours yesterday for 2 kids (one was gone most of the time at baseball practice and the other was off with her friends most of the time) and the parents paid me $40!  off to michael's and hobby lobby!

simple bracelet with emerald green cat's eye beads, somewhat sloppy still:

(my wrist looks broken!  why???!!!)

necklace with silver plated chain and jet black stone beads:

two pairs of earrings, the ones on the left are hematite (6mm and 4mm) and green glass leaf beads.  the ones on the right are 4mm hematite, emerald cats eye, and some purple glass beads that i've had forever (they look black in the closer pic):

ones from left

aaaaand from right

final thing!  if you've made it this far, bless your soul

the beads are really much more green than they are in that picture, more like the pic below:

as always, comments (good or bad!) are welcomed.  My mom and I are going to try to sell them on ebay, if we can figure it out! Cheesy
