861  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re:more porn-by-numbers...this time, t-shirts! on: February 16, 2004 02:37:30 AM
i took the shirts to my local tonight and left the gray one with my bartender friend, patrick.  he didn't mind the crinkly edges and modeled it, on the spot!

the iron on stuff is just standard office depot brand dark fabrinc iron-on transfer stuff, but the porn-by-number process is my own little secret.
Wink  (can you guess that i just closed the bar and it's almost 3am?)

here are two tshirts i made this afternoon, using the "dark fabric" iron on stuff and some pbns i made.  i messed up the gray one because i didn't read the directions first--d'oh!--but i kind of like the crinkly edges...as long as they don't peel up.
cheers--

863  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / ISO: Gocco supplier in the U.S. on: February 12, 2004 06:21:46 PM
hey there--
i have a print gocco silk screen kit that i love, but lately i can't find the screens for fabric, only the ones for paper that have the thin plastic overlay.  does anyone have a good source?
thanks!

is it tacky/illegal to sell tshirts from, say, old navy or some other store with a screen print or iron on that i put on?  i have bought a ton of "hanes-y" tshirts from bands and such, but i wasn't sure about store brands...
thanks for any advice!  i'm new here, so i'm sorry if i ask inappropriate or overly obvious questions.  even librarians get lazy sometimes when it comes to reference questions and just ask the experts.

865  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: PORN on: February 11, 2004 01:20:44 PM
actually, i am very excited right now because i think i figured out some important porn-by-numbers issues...i found canvas sheets that go through the printer and i think i can package my specially mixed paints into little test tubes!  once i get it together, i know i'll want to share.  i love this idea.  it's my own little baby.

aw, you're so sweet!  i'm still trying to figure out how i could sell my porn without copyright infringement...but you have my permission to print this one out yourself and paint away!

thanks!  i thought it was about time to unleash porn-by-numbers on the world, but the other copyright discussion makes me think i have troubles...still, i love the concept and i've made some cool notecards and a tshirt.  someday, i will have my own porn-by-numbers empire...

my big thing lately has been making paint by numbers in photoshop from porn...but it's so darn irritating to try to find good images online!  i honestly can't figure out why people bother with it, other than for the sake of art.  Wink
though i suppose that doesn't help you any with your issue, does it--unless you want to join me in the lovely world of paint by numbers!http://www.harpy.net/annette/pictures/PBNCHANTALLE.jpg
(hope that isn't too racy for anyone...i figured the "porn" subject opened the door for it...)

869  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re:copyright issues on: February 08, 2004 02:02:07 PM
thanks for the responses!  fair use and public domain were the ideas i was kicking around and i just wasn't sure how to tell if something was okay or not.  i'll do more research.
the other issue was in taking someone else's image and manipulating it.  i remember reading that if you made a certain percentage of change to a piece of music, then it was "new" or something, and i wondered if that applied to an image, as well.  (i've been making paint-by-numbers out of online porn, for example...)
thanks, again!

hey there--
sorry if this is something that has already been covered...i wasn't sure how to properly word a query to search for the topic...
what i'm interested in is the legality involved in uses other people's images on items that i make and sell.  on the site i've seen tons and tons of great ideas and crafts using trademarked packaging and frida kahlo prints, for example, to make handbags...or the thread on making stencils and such from images of famous people.
by selling an item using someone else's trademarked or copywritten image, am i doing a bad thing?
it's all sort of academic at this point, as i'm not selling anything, but i've been thinking about it and i just wasn't certain.
thanks for any help or thoughts on the matter!
cheers--
