21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: felt shag rug on: December 19, 2010 07:58:15 PM
i wish i thought we'd have some natural light at some point this week...the colors aren't exactly like that in real life--but close enough!

thanks!  feels great on your feet, too. Smiley

felt rug by drunkenlibraria, on Flickr
made this rug yesterday with felt sewn to a canvas dropcloth backing--it's about 2'x2.5' or so, most wool felt mixed with some cheap acryllic.  took a while to sew, but not difficult and i think it's super cute!

the fabric is a more vibrant green in person and it is very bizarre.
i put it here because it's a conceptual piece, but it could be moved if that's what should happen.

i ordered the funny bunny fabric from fabric.com and then this happened.  i embroidered the lettering in red over black sharpie, going for the crazed mess on purpose, though it wouldn't have looked much better if i'd have tried for "neat and tidy"...the red zig zag and such is machine.  everything looks better with red zig zag.  the canvas will thread out a little more before i'm done with it, i'm sure.
i've got a second piece on the back burner with some flaming raccoons!
26  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: green tentacles cardigan vest! on: April 24, 2010 11:22:51 AM
thanks!
i realize looking at the pictures that i should have straightened it up a little more on the dress form before i took the pictures, but i was just excited to post it.  Smiley

it's a little goofy, but i like it.  reminds me of some hippie tree hugger pattern from the 70s that went a little wrong...
Wink

i'm putting a button, or buttons, to hold the front in shape a little better, but i can't decide if i like anything i have, or if i should go shopping for something else.  in any case, it's very drapey in the front, and slightly longer in the front than the back.

this is a spread of the front part, so you can see what i sort of thought i was doing there:

these are the buttons i'm considering:

what do you think?
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: My colorful granny square bedcover (pillow coming soon) on: March 28, 2010 05:07:45 PM
what a classic!  Smiley  the colors look awesome together.  i can never seem to make two squares that are exactly the same size, so i think this sort of project is out of my depth.
29  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: distraction cat--multi-strand orange and pinks stuffed cat on: March 24, 2010 11:05:52 AM
i forgot to mention that my friend said distraction cat was a combination of almost all the colors in her bedroom (which i hadn't seen) so it totally "matches" as much as such a thing could be said to match anything!  Wink

i think it's time to make a new one of these for spring!  the first one i made is super-heavy...and i love it, but it's a wee bit frumpy.  i like the looks of these lighter, floatier ones, and i have a giant bolt of springy fabric just waiting for me to get brave and cut something out!
