1  Zombie Penguin w/victim in Knitting: Completed Projects by webdreamy on: December 17, 2006 10:22:47 AM
I saw a zombie penguin stuffie here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=128150.0 and thought, what a great idea! As luck would have it, my MIL sent me Knitted Toys by Jean Greenhowe and it had a whole family of penguins. So I knitted up a zombie penguin!

He's about as tall as a postcard, so between 3 and 4 inches tall. I added some details, like a splash of blood on his chest, blood on his beak and flippers, and in his side I have a little hidden pocket where his guts go. Also, I knitted another penguin head, to be his victim.

http://theknittingdiva.com/penguin/index.htm  this is a gallery of in progress and finished pics so you can see what I did to him. I knitted him in Pattons Grace (the green and black) the white is also mercerized cotton, but the red and yellow are dk weight wool.

3  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 2 in The Swap Gallery by webdreamy on: December 06, 2006 05:04:13 PM
April (Avesthel) sent me this lovely yarn ball. Smiley

Imagine my surprise when I got to see the goodies inside!

There's pretty rhinestone barrettes, a bracelet, eyeshadow, lipsmackers- which is awesome (a tradition we haven't celebrated since I was 20... my sister and I ALWAYS got the big holiday pack of lipsmackers in our stocking every year from the time we were like 6 & Cool, a necklace, beads for the pattern she sent (a bag), some tapestry needles - oh which you can never have to many, a spiced apple candle, nail polish, an interesting stamp, a gingerbread snowglobe, stitch markers, and a little bag with what looks like candy corn on it! The snowglobe is awesome, it has the cutest little gingerbread house on the bottom... I love it. They yarn was 2 skeins of a really pretty handspun in purple, my favorite color.

Thank you so much April!

4  Textural Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by webdreamy on: October 08, 2006 12:31:53 AM
Last year I swapped 2 knitted throw pillows for an Erica Weiner Textural Scarf kit (as seen on plainmabel.com !)

I finally got around to knitting it!

the ammount of tiny balls of yarn you start out with is daunting, as is the 100+ stitches the pattern called for (I think) since one 10yd length of the yarn doesn't go very far. I cast on and tinked this thing at least 8 or 9 times since I got it in 2005. However, I finally knuckled down and cast on with a similar color yarn that I had on hand, and went from there, once I was started it was fairly easy.

Golly, isn't that gorgeous? The textural bit is so true, and even though the greens aren't my colors, I get a lot of compliments on it because it is so beautiful. I am donating it to a fellow blogger who is trying to sell enough stuff at her local craft fair to be able to purchase a knitting basket for needy people in a 3rd world country. Socks for Sheep I hope someone @ her craft fair likes it Smiley

5  Re: Winter ornament ALREADY? sampler style swap! Gallery for winter inspiration! in The Swap Gallery by webdreamy on: October 08, 2006 12:13:45 AM
I feel so mean for not posting! I recieved my ornaments from Stacy Sews and Kmac sometime last week (or more) and although I've been showing them off to everyone, I forgot to come here and post them! I also just received the one from Superstitch:

Without further ado:

This is Kmac's superbly awesome, wonderfully amazing, ABSOLUTELY MUST BE ATTEMPTED (by me) acorn. I am in swooning, awesome love with this acorns. It could be that I have a thing for acorns, but I still think its amazing, and she made the wire hanger/display as well. PLUS! she told me where I could go find the little gourds, which was way nice. Thank you so much!

StacySews sent me 2 really cool glass ornaments that just rocked my world. 1, I tried the glass ornaments, but imo my paint didn't come out nearly as thick, rich, or luxurious as hers. These ornaments were great!!

Finally, just arriving today:

A really cool stuffed christmas tree with a button and sequin embellishment. The fabric is a really neat mosaic-y holly pattern, and like acorns, I have a thing for holly too.

You guys rocked! Thank you sooooo much!

6  Re: Monster Wreath *Now with tutorial* in Halloween Decor and Parties by webdreamy on: October 22, 2005 07:38:41 PM
Here's our take on the wreath! It's only the size of a dinner plate, so the eyes look HUGE! My husband made the eyes and some of them are bloodshot.

What do you think?

7  Re: My Star Lamp! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by webdreamy on: June 28, 2005 12:27:54 PM
This is what I made this weekend, with the help of an easily excitable five-year-old.

I couldn't find colored (the colors I wanted anyways) poster board so I used white with mulberry paper on top. Things I learned: Next time I will use punches instead of free form cutting the holes. Next time I will wait until the mulberry paper is on the posterboard before punching the holes instead of trying to cut the mulberry paper away from the holes.

Otherwise, what do you think? Yeah that's my shower rod it's hanging off of, not its permanent resting place.
the masking tape was unavoidable... sadly.
