2  Modern macrame in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Alittlemusthave on: February 23, 2015 02:35:34 PM
I've been dabbling with macrame lately and am looking for ways to make it look more Now.
I just finished this piece that I hung on a thick branch, which I painted the ends in a bronze paint. I really like how it all turned out.

3  macrame is back! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Alittlemusthave on: February 19, 2015 02:05:17 PM
Hi all,
As there isn't a forum for macrame I thought I would post it here, as it might be most appreciated.
I am about 2 years behind the ball since macrame has come back in fashion.
Just search Pinterest and etsy and you will be inundated  with new modern macrame!
I decided to give it a go and just used some doubled up yarn I had at home as I didn't want to spend any money on this project, because I didn't know if I could learn the knots.
But, with the help of youtube and an old book I had, away I went.
I never realised I loved tying pretty knots before and 2 days later I had this lovely wall hanging. Even my very modern teen, gave it the thumbs up Grin
Well, now I am more confident I have ordered some cotton rope and plan to make a very big piece for behind my bed head or my lounge. I might even try some dip dying...

5  STRING ART in New Swap Theme Ideas by Alittlemusthave on: February 17, 2015 06:52:42 PM

Google search images

Anyone interested? All you need is wood, nails and string/ embroidery floss OR if you don't have wood you could use styrofoam, cover it with fabric and use pins instead of nails!

6  Woven wall hangings in Needlework: Completed Projects by Alittlemusthave on: February 16, 2015 04:45:33 PM
I have just discovered weaving and really like it because unlike knitting and crochet it doesn't hurt my wrists.
Here are two freeform woven wall hangings I made this week for my living room.
The top is a tree branch that I wrapped in yarn.

7  Re: BRANCH WEAVING Anyone? Tutorial included here in New Swap Theme Ideas by Alittlemusthave on: February 09, 2015 11:57:05 PM
Hmm, I'm pretty sure it would get through customs if my partner heated the wood in the oven for a few minutes and then painted them with acrylic paint or gloss maybe. I've recieved feathers before through a swap and they were from her backyard! Grin
If it didn't make it, I would be okay with that, I'm willing to risk it.
Oh, and I finished my little practice one already.
I didn't keep to any particular pattern just winged it freestyle and used whatever wool I had in my stash to practice with.
I also want people to know that they don't have to be perfect, if you miss an over and go under, who cares! I just call it freestyle ;)lol

8  BRANCH WEAVING Anyone? Tutorial included here SIGNUPs NOW OPEN in New Swap Theme Ideas by Alittlemusthave on: February 09, 2015 02:59:59 PM
Okay so I might be a bit behind the rest of the world but I found these awesome weaving projects that seam to be very easy and they totally look awesome!
Basically two branches and you weave with a big needle your wool through to make beautiful colorful weaving art!
I found this tutorial here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Branch-Weaving/?ALLSTEPS
I was thinking something  smaller though maybe the size of your hand or just over?
I would be happy to host this, but I only do smaller size swaps of about 10 people as that's all I can seem to cope with! So if there's interest get in this fast!
Signups this month send outs march.

9   Easter egg diarama in New Swap Theme Ideas by Alittlemusthave on: February 04, 2015 08:22:22 PM
Hi all,
Hope you are all recovered from Christmas!
Because I can't wait for Easter !  Grin
I would love to do a Easter egg diarama swap.
basically you would either buy a plastic egg in the stores to decorate or get crafty and paper mache over a small balloon and then cut in half when dry.
Then we would decorate the half egg with images, lace, moss, little eggs, little chicks etc, etc
They could be made to hang or be on a stand. Ideas are endless.
This swap would have sign ups in late February, early march, so we all have our decorated egg by Easter.
Here are some pics as to what I am referring. Anyone up for this? Craft time would be 4 weeks.
All photos found via google search and are reference photos only.
