1  Category Challenges / Cooking: Challenge Entries / Butter Tart on: August 21, 2014 07:27:50 PM
I love eating butter tarts but have never actually made one myself so I decided to give it a go. I found a nice recipe here: http://www.intimateweddings.com/blog/butter-tart-squares-recipe-you-will-swoon-over-these-sweet-treats/.

Ingredients:

1 & 1/3 cups all purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 & 1/4 cups  packed brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup raisins (This is optional. I did not include raisins because I am not a big raisin fan.)
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp all-purpose flour

The recipe I used called for 1 cup of raisins but I subbed that for walnuts instead.

Fresh out of the oven:

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting for guys on: March 27, 2014 11:42:05 AM
A few years ago, I made the decision to make all gifts that I gift. However, I have a blended family with 6 older brothers and I am running out of things to knit. I've done hat, scarf and glove sets twice for each brother, beer can cosies, throws for when they are gaming and last year I did a set with a looffah, wash cloth and soap set. None of them are sweater people, and I want to avoid doing the same things too often. So any suggestions? I have birthdays coming up soon.

I also have 2 younger half brothers, and I never know what to make for them. They are 10 and 12 and want 'cool' things. This christmas I made each of them a creeper blanket and pillow (minecraft), but I'm out of ideas for them.

What do you knit for guys?
