1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*Ordinary Wizarding Levels*~ on: July 01, 2015 09:08:55 PM
Ok I posted this on the run whilst waiting on people at work, so it may have some mistakes as I was having difficulty posting it on my phone.

Noodle bug I love those immigrant cards , it is such a neat idea.
Midkiffsjoy that nightie is adorable my daughter would adore it , simple but regal Smiley
Abeeroad those tiedye tops came out awesome , I never remember mine as a kid coming out that kool.

OWL Subject & Option(if available):Alchemy - option one
House: Slytherin
Project Name: metal filing cabinet
Brief Description:  I will be honouring the work of previous alchemists by adaption of metalwork , into something that is both pretty and practical. I expect it will take me approx 3-4 weeks if not longer. I have never attempted crafting with metal before or metal based paints. I am making up the techniques and processes as I go along but here is my general plan.
Step one- somehow attempt to remove plastic handle things.
Step two- sand down metal/old paint.
Step three- prime with metal paint primer.
Step four- make outlines.
Step five- paint.
Step six- see how it goes lol

I finally got around to posting the work i have done so far this semester, sorry that it is pic heavy
Class/Challenge/House Pride: June library challenge
House: slytherin
Project Name: Olaf Pinata
Slytherin Scavenger Hunt: 1-buddy system (had help from my four year old daughter)
Brief Description: My daughter and I made this Olaf pinata to celebrate her 4th birthday, with a frozen themed party (she is obsessed). celebrating birthdays is a way of celebrating another year of life. which reminded me of the book , Rules of the wild by Francesca Marcino, as it celebrates life and survival of a women in east africa.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Care of magical creatures
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Fish Adventure PL page
Slytherin Scavenger Hunt: 6-finders keepers (found an awesome sea urchin shell at the beach)
Brief Description: while interacting with the merpeople, during care of magical creatures classes this semester, i became enthusiastic about aquatic culture. therefore we went to explore the muggle aquatic culture and documented it as we went and crafted it into a project life page. on your journey we found fish, crabs and a really cool sea urchin shell.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Divination
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Photo album - babe and floral
Slytherin Scavenger Hunt: 15 - Dueling wizards (i struggled with completing this project as both me and my daughter have been sick and i had to fight to complete it.)
Brief Description: this project represents the precise allignment of the stars, with the delicate and exacte measurements required to have all three sections and the flaps within to be working seemlessly.
Project Picture:

I have a few more in the works Smiley

hi all , so so excited about crafting this semester and loving what everyone is doing. i thought i would jump right into a newt Smiley

Subject: Muggle studies
Project Name: handmade decorative photo album
Brief Description: For my advanced studies I am delving into the differences between wizard and muggle photographs and the way in which these are stored. i will be exploring some old techniques i have not used in a few years and will explore new more effective techniques. The materials i will use will be paper, cardstock, glue, ribbons and other embelishments. I am just going to jump into it. I dont have an expected end date, but i estimate it will take at least 1 or 2 months to complete.

p.s mistress jennie i am second year.

@elliot-anne , no worries at all , i was just interested in seeing your other one Smiley

I also have exciting news, i have just started my first ever harry potter craft, (yes ive never done one before - its a crime) i cant wait to complete it Smiley

OWL Subject & Option:Transfiguration , option 1 and 2
Project Name:ambitious first altered book

It will utilize my vanishing and conjuring spells , by transfiguring a large amount of supplies into a finished product. when complete it will have a dual purpose as a decorative book and a scrap/smash book.

plan of action-
step 1: find hardcover book
step 2: removed pages
step 3: glue pages
step 4: pick photos, paper and embelishments
step 5: figure out the rest of the steps

pattern/techniques used - making it up as i go
materials using- anything and everything i have in my stash
expected timeline - must be complete by april the 23rd, as i am taking it to australia with me to give to him for his 50th.

wish me luck - of course no slytherin needs it  Grin

Discription: I actually completed this assignment approx 6 or 8 months ago whilst i was was on my craft and craftster hiatus , but i have completed it. I managed to transfigure the supplies and photos i had available into a finished altered book. As it was awhile ago , i have misplaced the in the process photos i took of the stripping and altering the book and i would tackle it differently in the future if i was ever to do another. I did alot of experimenting with this project and did alot of firsts.
