1  Embroidered Snoopy Pillow in Needlework: Completed Projects by Purrster on: April 12, 2014 05:35:02 PM
This is officially my first craft that I'm sharing here at Craftster!
My 13 year old daughter likes collecting dolls and for Christmas she got her first collectible newborn doll (very expensive), which she of course loves. Since it is her birthday tomorrow, I decided to make a pillow for her baby.
It was made from materials that were found around the house. The red fabric was from an old skirt of my daughter's, the lace trimming was from the underskirt of an old Halloween costume, and the embroidery thread is at least 30-40 years from a stash which I inherited from my husband's grandmother.
This is my 2nd time ever working with embroidery, the 1st time was when I was 8 years old and my grandma helped me stitch a pillowcase featuring a duck holding an umbrella. For this current pillow, I held the fabric up to the computer screen and traced out an outline of Snoopy with the hearts. I believe that I did it all in back-stitches, though I am not sure myself as I'm not familiar with the different embroidery stitches. I also know in some spots, I didn't correctly fill it in enough. The words on the pillow were free-handed which is why it is not perfect. I stuffed it with some stuffing from a ripped pillow.
Also I'm not a whiz on the sewing machine and my pillow didn't come out completely round like it was supposed to. But hey, the wonkiness of it adds to the homemade charm of it! At least that is what I tell myself!  Cheesy
Onto the photos...

An upclose of Snoopy. Here you can see where I didn't completely fill in the stitches, but I know for next time!

An upclose of the hearts and writing.

A front shot of the whole pillow. The top has the date of when her doll was "born" (here where I live we put the day first and then the month!). The text reads:
"Someone loves you...
Joshua Benjamin"
She picked a cute name for her doll!

A back shot of the pillow. The text reads:
"To: Holly
(heart) Mama
Happy 13th Birthday!

I hope that she will like my gift that I made from the heart. I worked on it every night for quite a few weeks now and I can't wait to see her open it tomorrow!
