11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: jedi costume for bears on: February 26, 2006 11:31:16 AM
I'm currently making 5 Jedi tunics for my upcoming wedding.  (My fiance and son are wearing a black tunic with purple tabbards and the rest of the guys are wearing dark brown.)  Basically, the tunic is similar to a karate jacket/short kimino with tabbards added over the shoulder and under the obi.  It should be fairly easy to fashion up one for a bear.  Then just add some pants, boots (might be able to find some in the doll aisle at a craft store), and a lightsaber and you're all set.

Once the tunic is made just add rectangular strips that are twice the length top to botom of the tunic so they will drape all the way down front and back.  Wrap another around the waist and viola...your panda is a jedi. Wink
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Fairy Gardens on: February 26, 2006 08:54:31 AM
Are you looking to make a garden that looks like it belongs to a fairy or one that has plants and things in that will attract fairies?
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: It's a ferret...no it's a rabbit...no it's a Grumpy Toad on: February 26, 2006 07:53:31 AM
Toad is adorable and you're portraits of him look very professional.  Are you making the calendar for friends and family or a broader audience?  I could see the Santa picture in one of the calendars you see in stores.
14  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Re: satanvelopes! on: February 26, 2006 04:30:17 AM
That is a really beautifully done card.  The image is actually of Baphomet.  While some groups later connected him to Satan, his true intent is quite different.  This is what the artist himself, Eliphas Levi, said the drawing meant:

"The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top, a symbol of light, his two hands forming the sign of hermetecism, the one pointing up to the white moon of the Qabbalistic Chesed, the other pointing down to the black one of Geburah. This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice. His one arm is female, the other male like the ones of the androgyne of Khunrath, the attributes of which we had to unite with those of our goat because he is one and the same symbol. The flame of intelligence shining between his horns is the magic light of the universal balance, the image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame, whilst being tied to matter, shines above it. The ugly beast's head expresses the horror of the sinner, whose materially acting, solely responsible part has to bear the punishment exclusively; because the soul is insensitive according to its nature and can only suffer when it materializes. The rod standing instead of genitals symbolizes eternal life, the body covered with scales the water, the semi-circle above it the atmosphere, the feathers following above the volatile. Humanity is represented by the two breasts and the androgyne arms of this sphinx of the occult sciences."

17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Another wiccan swap (maybe for imbolc or ostara?) on: February 25, 2006 11:38:16 AM
I had seen someone else mention doing an Ostara swap on another thread recently and there seemed to be some interest.  That swap is more aetheist/agnostic oriented though.  I'd be interested in an Ostara swap...or maybe Beltane.  I was in a general pagan swap, but had to miss the Samhain swap.  I had such a great time with the first one.  Anyone else interested?
