1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Re: Goofy owl urn/cookie jar on: October 15, 2010 06:33:43 AM
wow, thanks guys!  I'm pretty happy with it considering that I don't have much experience with clay that isn't of the polymer variety. Cheesy
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Goofy owl urn/cookie jar on: October 14, 2010 04:44:40 PM
I'm taking a ceramics class this semester.  For our second project, we had to make a funerary urn or reliquary box with a lid and plinth.  Originally, my urn was going to be kind of like a canopic jar.  I was doodling different ideas for the lid and it ended up looking kind of like an owl.  I decided to go with it and made the whole dang thing into an owl.  I sculpted 3 feather shapes from polymer clay and made mold from them.  I used the molds to make roughly a bajillion feathers that I stuck on the coil-built form.

The picture kinda sucks.  Oh, well.

I'll take more pictures one it is bisqued.  Not sure how I'm going to glaze it.  Once it is done, though, I'm totally going to use it as a cookie jar, seeing as I don't plan on dying anytime soon.

Oh, there is a plinth that sort of goes with it, but it is trapped in the kiln room.  I'll take pictures once I get it back.

How cute!

If you have a Dollar Tree nearby, try there for the skeleton hands.  I bought several packs last year and noticed that they are already out for this year.  Otherwise, you can make up some hands fairly easily with clay.  Basically coils (snakes) and blobs.  I'm lazy, though. Smiley
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / WE HAVE A WINNER!! Mythical Creatures Challenge on: July 09, 2010 04:35:37 PM
Whoop whoop!  The winner of the most recent Polymer Clay Challenge is none other than RobbinZombie!  Check out her great Kraken sculpture!

Release the KRAKEN!!!

Everyone that entered did a great job.  Hopefully, we can get more interest for future challenges and I won't have to extend the next ones. Cheesy

6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Vote for your favorte entry into the 2nd ever Polymer Clay Challenge! on: July 02, 2010 08:45:48 AM
So, I'm a turd and left out one entry in the previous poll.  That poll is no more, so if you have already voted, you will have to do so again.  The poll is open for 7 days, starting today.

I will be without internet access for the weekend (rustic camping!), so if you need to talk to me, I won't be able to reply until Monday at the earliest.  Have a good weekend, and Happy Independence Day to my fellow residents of the USofA! Cheesy

ok, you guys have to relax a bit. Smiley  I'm currently at a doctor's appointment.  After I get done & run some errands, I will have a poll set up.  Doing polls is tricky on my phone. Cheesy  so it should be up in a few hours.  Before 10 PM EST.

I could kiss the person who gave us an extra month, wanted to get involved in this challenge but the old deadline fell on my university deadlines and such, but I now have 2 (ish) weeks of waiting (Or "reading weeks") to get results, so I'm definitely going to enter something, it's all planned out (even doodled out a plan) and it's going to look fab!

 Kiss   Cheesy
