161  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Re: Pretty Pumps on: August 03, 2005 09:16:01 PM
an organization near me had an art competition to support a house for battered and abused women.  they sent a black high heel out to a lot of well known, some what local artist and said they could do absolutely anything with them. a few artists only decorated the shoe, others incorporated it into a painting or sculpture, one guy even hacked his up and turned it into a box with the heel as the handle. it was really neat and really successful...

so would this be a "do absolutely anything to a shoe competition" or a "re-con a pair of shoes so that they could possibly be reworn?"

i just thought i'd throw out the idea..

i'd be in on this one no matter what the specifications are, but i'm not too fond of there being a size limit. most of my work tends to get pretty big.

thanks!! i make a lot of prettier, more-stylish stuff, but my personal likes tend to be more creative and unexpected and funky. my first love is painting so i have to make stuff like this for my soul i guess. sometimes the other stuff weighs me down, but it definitely pays a lot more, and i can't complain since i'm still getting to use my creativity rather than working at a 9-5. i'm so glad other people like them; up until now i was starting to think it was just me haha

(blushing neon red) thank you very much for all of the wonderful compliments, i wasn't expecting all of that! Cheesy

i used left over beads with coordinating colors from mixes i had used in the past. most of them are glass, but i also used swarovski crystals and some dyed wooden beads and i'm not too sure what the large bright blue one is, possibly glass painted with a metallic finish. i also used sterling silver chain and wire for the rest.

my website is under construction and i figured that i would wait until it's fixed up before listing it on here. but i usually sell most of my jewelry, so if anyone's interested in buying some similar ones just pm me.  Wink

i'm in love with your lovely jacket!! seeing that made anxious for fall..  Roll Eyes (it says he's suppose to be rolling his eye's but i think it looks more like he's delightfully pondering)
