So my 9 year old niece is having a slumber party (no birthday or anything, just a party) on Sept 18th.  I 've done a lot of baby showers, bridal showers & bachelorette parties in the family so when she decides to have the party she said, "Aunt Tara will make it great!"  Well, Aunt Tara has never done a party for 9 year olds and Aunt Tara needs some help!!! PLEASE....what can I do for this slumber party?  We're gonna play kiss the poster(with Zac Efron or Edward from Twilight) and probably a scavenger hunt, and the usual truth or dare and light as a feather stiff as a board....but what else can we do?  Games, cool food, anything??  I have to keep my status of the cool, fun, party planning aunt!

So I'm having a Superbowl party and need some ideas.  This is what I'm doing so far.... I'm making chili, some kind of dip and a football shaped cupcake cake.  Games - commercial bingo, guess what team will score first etc, &questions about the half time show.  I need more ideas for games, crafty decorations, prizes, ANYTHING! Oh, and of course I need to keep the cost down.  Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I've been knitting for a few years now and I have actually never knit a pattern that had this in it.  I want to make the LionBrand "Textured treasure speed stix afghan" and in the pattern it has (knit 1, purl 1, knit 1)all in the same stitch.  Now I have looked up how to do this but I don't know if I am supposed to knit in front, purl in back and then knit in front or what.  I haven't even started yet so it might be easier to figure it out looking at the yarn actually on the needle but I was hoping someone here could help me out.

I'm throwing a bridal shower for my sis-in-law and I'm looking for ideas of crafty gifts or decorations.  It's going to be a murder mystery shower.  I found a murder mystery that actually takes place at a bridal shower so the theme is still bridal shower.  I am already doing a towel cake as a centerpiece but I can't think of anything else crafty.  I can knit, maybe sew a little, actually I'm willing to try anything so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  My other sis-in-law just a a baby shower and I made a butt-load of crafty stuff for her so they are expecting it again - I just can't think of anything.

This is only like my third post on Craftster and I've been a member for over a year now.  But I just had to post to say thanks to everyone for posting all of your great ideas and adorable pictures of things you've made.  I just went to a baby shower for my sister-in-law yesterday and I made a diaper cake, onesies that I dyed and put iron on letters and appliques on, a towel with the baby's name embroidered and an appliqued butterfly, some hooded bath towels, some burp cloths made from cloth diapers and flannel, a bucket (or pail) painted with a doggy face and craft foam doggy ears hanging from the handles, and a wooden plaque and jewelry box with the baby's name on it.  I also made some things for the six year old sister.  The mom loved it and everyone else at the shower went crazy over everything!  Unfortunately my digital camera is broken and I forgot to pick up a disposable camera so I didn't get any pictures so I'm Waiting for pictures that other people took so I can post them.  Anyways, I couldn't have done it without you gals on Craftster.  I could have never came up with all of those ideas myself!
