171  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Beauty Sercrets Here on: June 21, 2005 01:30:39 PM
Putting Margarine in your hair makes it soooooooooooo incredibaly shiny ,soft and silky it's amazing. I had to do this when I was 8 (damn lice) and for the next 3 days my hair was perfect!

using an olive oil or jojoba oil mask (apply some olive oil, heat under shower cap with hairdryer or wrap microwaved damp towel around hair) would work well for this, too
172  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: 4-ingredient recipes needed!!! on: June 21, 2005 11:59:21 AM
do seasonings count? you could always opt for a casserole of some sort- meat/fish, a sauteed veggie, cooked pasta and cheese, plus seasoning? you could also cheat even a little...  Grin

i tried making pumpkin pie crunch once, which was the same idea. it turned out so badly. i had to take it to the party anyways, because i didn't have another dessert. the top turned out to be like eating dust, and the filling was somehow this gluey pumpkiny mess. ugh.  Embarrassed
174  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: LAYERED Cold Nacho DIP! on: June 21, 2005 11:25:47 AM
yours sounds so amazing! those dips are always a crowd pleaser!

i had one made by a lady that had the cream cheese base covered with a layer of seafood cocktail sauce (i think mixed with a bit of extra horseradish, because it had a kick), and then she layered chopped up tomato, green onion, green peppers, cilantro, and that crab/pollock stuff and some shrimp. it was fantastic!
175  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Renting, but PAINTING (OMG) on: June 17, 2005 11:46:23 AM
for curtains, i'd put up colored sheers. and instead of mounting them on the walls, youcould mount them on the ceiling

you could use pipe, elbows and flanges from the hardware store to make curtain rods. you take a rod of pipe, put two elbows on the side so they would angle up to the ceiling, and then fasten it onto the roof on the flanges. you'd have a bar that hung from the ceiling. you'd have to thread your curtains onto the rod before mounting everything up, but it would work. and depending on how "chunky" the stuff is that you bought, it could look somewhat industrial as well. you could even use cheap bed sheets as drapes.

#1 is really striking, especially with the floor. i also like #3, but not as much as #1!

there are ceramic paints at places like michael's, but i think you have to bake them so that they won't wash off.

i saw an idea a short while ago that i'm loving- taking plain ceramic glazed mugs and applying polka dots with etching cream to create a matte contrast. i can't remember where i aw them, but they would look really cute with those mugs that have one color inside and another outside.
