In the last week or so I've finished two projects from Mason-Dixon Knitting. The baby Kimono for some friends who are expecting and three warshrags for an auction at our family reunion next weekend. I HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend the book to everyone!
I decided to make my dad a pair of Knitty's Thuja for Christmas. The pattern seemed easy enough, but for some reason, the pattern isn't showing up! It's just a seed stitch rib, but not even my 1x1 rib is showing up. Can anyone help me? There is a picture below of what they look like so far, you can't even tell where I changed from the 1x1 to the seed stitch. This is my first pair of socks, so there is probibly just something I don't understand about sock knitting (they're on double pointed needles, not circs).
I'm attmepting to make the Midwest Moonlight scarf from ScarfStyle. The first row is not working out right. It reads as followes
Co 49 sts. Knit 3 rows. Cont. as foll:
Row1: (RS): *[K2tog, yo] four times, K8; rep from * two more times, end K1
My problem is, the math is not working out. You start with 49 stitches the pattern for row 1 requires 20 sts. per repeat at 3 repeats, making 60 sts. plus one at the end for 61 sts. The second row adds up to 49 though. Am I missing something? Please help!
My boyfriend's parents are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in the beginning of September. I told his sister that I would help her plan and exicute the party since her two brothers (my boyfriend included) don't seem to be much help! We were thinking a simple opehouse at their family church with appitizers and a miniture wedding cake (my cousin is a pastery chef!) but I'm looking for other ideas or suggestions on what other people have done. His parents are very simple people, they live on a HUGE farm in a tiny farming town in Michigan. His dad is a full time farmer (just crops) and his mom is a PT Assistant. I want something simple and classy without being too fussy, because they wouldn't be comfortable with it. It would also be nice if it was fairly low budget, since 2 of the 3 kids are still in college. Thank you for your help!
I have this wonderful chemistry professor this semester who has no problem with me sitting in the front row and knitting through a two hour lecture (I can not sit still otherwise). He's always very friendly and when I come to class with different color yarn he'll enquire as to what this week's project is. Would it be inappropriate for me to knit him a scarf or hat as a thank you for letting me knit in class to give him after finals (so that he dosn't think I'm trying to manipulate my grade)?
My wonderful boyfriend's birthday is in the beginning of June. I'm planning a weekend of camping for him and about 10 of our friends. He thinks we're just going with another couple we're friends with, but when he arrives there's going to be all his friends from high school and college he keeps in touch with, gathered from all over the midwest for HIS birthday!
I have most of it down, but I'm looking for some fun, ideas for simple, colorful, camp ground friendly, cheap decorations for a weekend party of 20-somethings. Luckyl I have lots of time to plan and work, all suggestions would be much appreciated!
Okay, so my boyfriend is talking about revamping his bedroom. He's currently sleeping on a opened futon (full). He loves it, because it's got a great firm mattress, so the bed is deffinatly staying. However, the head and foot boards are too little! How can I make the futon look like a real bed? Any ideas on how to give it fake (but real looking) solid head and foot boards (preferably fabric covered), without harming the original bed? Thanks!
I wanted to make a scarf for my friend for Christmas, he bought this great wool coat he loves showing off and I decided he needed a great scarf to match! I was going to do a simple, super quick (because I have a trillion Christmas projects) loosely knit garter stitch scarf and put his initial on it then felt lightly. Has anyone felted anything garter stitch knit before? What does it look like? I just want to make sure it will look good before I start on it. If you have pictures that would be awesome! Thanks!
I'm loving knitty's French Market Bag. I do knit; I knit well enough to knit the FMB in fact, I have no fear of dpn either. I just REALLY want to make the bag in canvas! Can someone who's made the bag, trace it so I can have a rough sketch of their finished bag so that I can make a pattern for a sewn one? Pleeeaaaassseee!!!!! I promise to share the pattern and pictures when I'm finished! I want it baaaaad!
My grandparents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary the first weekend in November! My brother and I are the only grandkids, making me the only granddaughter AND the oldest. I want to make them something wonderfully special, because they're great grandparents AND they're paying for college! So, I'm stuck in a dorm right now with out a lot of options, my aunt is already doing a slide show, so I don't know what to do! Please help! Grandma and Grandpa deserve soild gold, but I can't afford it!
