That is too cool for words!!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Second pic to pattern project on: March 09, 2014 09:17:58 AM
As you guys are too awesome and kind!!  This one took me a bit longer due to our current dog and some major leg issues that I had to take care of.  I'm lucky in that we isn our own business and I can chill at the store or at home and just cross stitch.  It's my meditation. Customers see what I'm doing and always ask. When I explain it and show them the pattern they tell me that they would lose their mind. Haha and I find this relaxing.

It's 10.5 x 5.5 finished and I used that plastic canvas material.  This was my first time using the plastic canvas and it was nice to work with.

Once I get it framed I'll take a pic.  Chewie was a rescue and this was 3 days before he passed. He had gotten stomach cancer, that is very common for chows.  As a chow went he was so sweet to everyone and other dogs. Cats are a different story...

I finished the cross stitch of Chewie our old chow chow. The pattern maker translated some of the colors weird but I think it still works. The photo is on the left and cross stitch on the right.
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I know how much material for each project? on: March 01, 2014 08:18:51 PM
If you are feeling fancy and high tech there are apps in the apple App Store that are a calculator. They also give you the option to tell it how much of a border you want around your finished project. Best thing about this is no counting and they are typically free.

Thanks for the heads up. I was having that problem. I'm almost done with the project and I'm excited to post up the pic soon.  I would have been done sooner but I have been dealing with my dog Darla and her leg. We go to the orthopedic surgeon on Monday. I will be cross stitching a storm then while waiting for the X-rays and consult with him. Who needs counseling I have cross stitching Wink

Make sure you use shorter thread lengths. Due to the plastic being more rough than fabric, the thread has a tendency to catch on the plastic and wind up shredding your floss.

Happy stitching!  Cool

So at hobby lobby I saw this 14ct plastic canvas. Too good to be true?  I shall find out as I am starting a new project tomorrow.

Has anyone used this before and what were your experiences?  It says to use three strands for standard stitches.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you organize your floss? on: February 02, 2014 08:47:55 PM
I'm not sure if those goes here. I have an app I just bought for my iPhone and it is called xstitcher. It is made by coffee shop works and is a great app for a stock list, shopping list and WIP section. I am in no way affiliated with them just bought it and love it.

I keep my floss on bobbins and in clear boxes. I put those in my vintage train case. My project fits on there well and it's easy to transport to my store with me.

You are awesome!  I am so downloading it!

Hope you guys found the app useful.  My fav part is the shopping list. It makes it so easy to see what you do have and don't.

8  UNITED STATES / Colorado / Arvada area meet up anyone? on: February 02, 2014 06:59:59 PM
I was wondering if anyone wants to do a meetup soon. I'm in the Arvada area and have ms so I can not drive too far. Let me know if anyone is interested. I cross stitch so my projects are very portable.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Lots of Cross Stitch Phone cases! on: February 02, 2014 06:55:13 PM
Nice job!  I tried to do one before but it got really baggy and never relaxed to fit the phone. How did you get yours to not stretch out?
