1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How to put together a shirt collar? on: July 06, 2006 08:11:34 PM
I'm a newbie to sewing, so please bear with me if this is a stupid question to ask.  But how do I sew together a shirt collar with neck band?  I'm trying to make a shirt from the New Look 6407 pattern.  Though they explain in the instructions how to do it, I just don't get it.  I tried it and the collar and neck band just don't look right the way I've done it.  Can anyone explain it in clear and easy instructions so I can get a move on with my pattern?  Please keep in mind that this is my first attempt ever at making a shirt.  I've been able to make a skirt, halter dress, and tank top successfully so far.  Anyways, any help would be much appreciated!  Thanks in advance Grin.

My sister lives in the US and it's true that they don't have Smarties.  Can you believe it?  Smarties are so much yummier than M&M's in my opinion.  They also don't have Coffee Crisp and Skor bars.

Thanks so much for your compliments, eacargal.  Hehe, the backdrops that I used for my pictures are actually the back of a patio chair and the patio table (hence the tempered glass).  Honestly, I didn't even think of trying to make my earrings stand out more against a background.  The patio chair is some sort of weave so it just allows me to hook the earrings into it for picture taking in natural light Smiley.  Good point though, looks like these patio chairs are more than just for sitting on  Grin.

That's a really cool bracelet.   I love the floating bead look and would actually love to learn how to make floating jewelry.  Are there are any good online resources that teach the technique?

greenfish , how does one go about figuring how much money to charge for a pair of earrings?  I've been thinking that if I dive into beading more heavily, I could sell some of my stuff.  But I have no idea what is reasonable to charge for earrings  Huh.

Thanks!

Arksiel, the beads I used for the first pair aren't precious gems actually.  I believe they're made from shells that were painted and glazed over.  They're great aren't they?  They're so vintage-y and pretty.  When I went back to the store to get more of these beads, they were almost all sold out.  Definitely hot sellers!

Oooh, please post a picture of the completed bikini set when you're done!  I'm making a bikini too and I'm finding the bottoms most frustrating because some bottoms just don't provide much coverage Shocked.  Have fun!

Well this is my first time posting anything here but I recently decided to pick up beading again as I used to do a little bit of it here and there.  I came up with these 2 pairs of earrings.

This pair is yummy.  They remind me of Smarties chocolates:

This is a pair of earrings that I designed for someone in a trade off.  They really like the colour green so here goes:

I'd love to hear any feedback  Grin.  Thanks!

knitoholic- that is wonderful. i really like the straps. and the contrasting colors. im going to have to steal that idea when i make this.

I'm glad I could inspire you Smiley.  I'm actually really surprised that I after all this time I hadn't seen anyone else make their Lelah with contrasting colours like I did.  I thought that it just added a bit more detail and made it more interesting like that.  Have fun making it, I sure did Grin.
