That's cute! I like how it's a little wonky, the stripes kind of spiral around. What brand of yarn was it?

Yeah, i really like spiral patterns! The yarn is Loops and Threads Charisma Mulberry bush Smiley
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Gift for a friend! New to calligraphy on: August 10, 2014 04:23:13 PM
One of my friends was diagnosed with lung cancer recently. I wanted to do something for her that wasnt super emotional (since she isnt the overly emotional type), but would give her a sense of strength when she needs it most. I found a quote online and put it on some paper made by Tibetan monks. The shell printed on the paper is the symbol for victory. The quote says " We gain strength, courage, and confidence by each experience in whice we really stop to look fear in the face. We must do that which we think we cannot".

Thanks for looking Smiley

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Newest hat I finished for a friend! on: July 23, 2014 04:40:30 PM
Thanks!  I posted the two loomed hats I made in the hatalong in knitting...you can see they are quite tight...I will donate them to the homeless shelter...

I still want to make hats like yours...I love the beret look!

I love the colors in the second picture! My friends hats have that chunky look to them and she just makes them pretty long. Ive found that around 12inches does the trick for mine. You may have to do them longer for chunkier hats. Smiley

Thanks!  It is lovely yarn...I thought it was hand spun!  I am going to check it out.

What color loom are you using?  I used the green one this weekend and both of the hats I made are a little snug on me (maybe I just have a big head Grin)....I am sure they will stretch out a bit...I used the green loom, not the largest one, which in my set, is yellow.

For adults i use the biggest loom. The hats tend to shrink a bit Ive noticed so they seem to fit everyone so far.

It makes it even more fun, doesn't it?  Plus, it makes it more fun for the recipient, too!  What's the yarn you used?  It's really pretty.

It really does make it fun! I love to make custom products for people Smiley The yarn i used is Red Heart Unforgettable series in Dragonfly. If you have a Joanns near you, its on sale!! http://www.joann.com/red-heart-boutique-unforgettable-yarn/11835121.html

Thank you! I really love making things for others to enjoy Smiley

Finished this about an hour ago. In love with this yarn. I made a scarf for the friend out of the same yarn, so now she has a set!!!

This was the scarf i made for her awhile back.

Thanks for looking!

EDIT: Unfortunately, the coworker i made this for didnt want a slouchy beanie. She wanted a slouchy beret but didnt tell me. Put a Etsy page up for it but meh, its just sitting here.  Embarrassed

I see the difference now!  I use two strands to make tight beanies...I am going to try this with just one strand...thanks for the info...I normally just knit, but I still like using my loom as well...

Oh! Yeah that would definitely do it! I love the loose look so i tend to use only one strand. For the pink/black parts(intermediate part) there were two strands though.
