1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Pattern for socks that uses 2 needles instead of dpns? on: October 09, 2011 07:36:07 AM
I know such things exist, but I can't for the life of me find one Sad I have some chunky wool I'd love to make into cosy socks for around the house but dpns are not something I'm quite ready for yet. Does anyone know of any patterns? I've tried googleing and searching on here without success.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tote bag inspired by an album cover. on: March 27, 2011 07:49:40 AM
I wanted to give my friend something a little different and special for her 18th birthday, but that didn't cost the earth either.

When a favourite band of ours released their new album recently I had the perfect idea. A tote bag to match the cover of the album.

I dyed the calico bag blue. Twice, as the first time it was way to pale... and sort of lilac :/ It's a little dark now but I think it's better than too pale.

The album cover is a stuffed knitted heart so I knitted one side of a heart and sew this onto the bag, with a little bit of stuffing (hopefully you can sort of see this from one of the photos)

I can't wait to give it to her when I see her next month. Hopefully she'll really like it  Smiley

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Some vinyl record cuffs on: November 09, 2010 11:06:17 AM
Could you post the link to the video? I'd love to have a go at this.
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Post your photography in here :D on: December 25, 2009 09:08:54 AM
I've not posted in this thread for a while. Loved looking at everyones work. Here a few of my most recent shots. I'm not too good at making these things short, but I'll write a little about each one.

This is the frontman of a band called Pulled Apart By Horses. I wanted to photograph them as I knew they were pretty mad live, I wasn't dissapointed. It was mental!

This is Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh, at dawn. The white balance is twiddled slightly...the sky wasn't quite that amazing.

Sam, from a band called Twin Atlantic. The band did a performance/signing in a Glasgow record shop, but not everyone could fit in the tiny shop. So he went outside to perform a song to those that couldn't squeze in.

Frontman of a band called The Living End

Ok...last one...

The ceiling of John Rylands library, Manchester

I have loooooads more on my flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterphotography)
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Re: Hands up if you like hairy men! on: December 25, 2009 08:45:06 AM
You have good taste in music then Smiley

I look forward to seeing those dolls. And yeah, doing the tats would be hard. Plus as soon as you'd finished drawing them on Simon would probably have got a new one...it'd be never ending.

Littleclouds - I feel I kinda hijacked your thread a little there. Sorry bouts that. I think your stencil is super!!

I. LOVE. THIS.

Simon Neil is one of my all time favourite men ever (although my true Biffy favourite has to be James... it's the combination of ginger *AND* beard that really gets me!) Is the image based on one of their tour t-shirts? I mean the black one where his face kinda makes the name? That was a horribly bad description, sorry.

But yeah... gotta love Biffy Clyro-based crafts. I made knitted doll versions of the band for my best friend a few years ago, probably the thing I'm most proud of so far! xx

Oh my!! You have to post photos of those dolls!!!

I was at a gig the other night and saw a girl with Simon's face tattooed onto her leg...that was somewhat bizzare, lol.

If you like Biffy then you should give Sucioperro a listen (if you haven't already) They are also an Ayr based 3 piece who play great rock music (and are really lovely guys too!) Plenty on youtube / spotify etc. I don't think I know of a Biffy fan who dislikes them.

I will post more later but I don't want to put to many pictures

I look forward to seeing more, these are really nice!

I was out taking a few snaps the other day, nothing special but I quite liked this one. It's of Edinburgh (Scotland) from Calton Hill. I'm moving there soon to go to college.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: easiest hat EVER (no pattern needed! straight needles! it's easy!) on: August 16, 2009 06:33:27 AM
I like it!!

I've made hand/wrist warmers this way before, but never hats. I'll definately try this method next time I come to make a hat.
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Photography - Manchester Orchestra / Kevin Devine + other shots on: July 26, 2009 09:45:26 AM
Thanks, glad you like them Smiley

The first 3 were a Canon 5DMKII (my new toy Smiley ) and the others were with a Canon 400D. All with a 24-70mm Canon L lens

I feel like I've not been on Craftster in ages. It's been so good looking through everyones creations again. I thought I'd post some of my recent photos. I've not had much spare time recently so not a lot to show but I'd love any comments you could give. Good and bad.

These first 3 are from a recent Manchester Orchestra gig I went to, with Kevin Devine as support. (ironically, shot in Manchester, UK) I shot the gig for my website www.ukgigsandfestivals.com (think that's ok to post there as I'm not selling anything) They were amazing and I'm quite excited to hear they are supporting my favourite band this autumn, in the UK.

This one is of Kasabian, performing at a HMV album lauch show / record signing. I don't know if this band are known in the US, but they are really big over in the UK.

This one is of local band The 66s.

I only seem to have shot gigs recently. Always fun though. Live music + photography is just the best thing!!
