1  needle tatted earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by fiorinda on: June 29, 2013 10:29:17 AM

I was bored this morning and decided to try making myself some tatted earrings. It's been a while since I tatted so I am pleased with how they came out.

2  Headboard redo in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by fiorinda on: August 08, 2012 12:19:11 PM
I've been wanting to paint my headboard for years. It was my in-laws, and they gave it to me when I got married (17 yrs ago(yes, I procrastinate  Roll Eyes)).  So last year I bought some chalk paint and redid my dresser and nightstand, but for some reason didn't do my headboard. So when I was vacuuming under the bed yesterday and had to take the bed apart to do so, I removed the headboard and spent this morning painting it.

After

I've been in a craft slump this year, so it was fun to get crafty again. I used gold paint as the highlight. It looked too flat when it was just off-white. I love the chalk paint. No sanding or priming was required.

Thanks for looking!

3  Basket+Skirt=Pendant Lamp in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by fiorinda on: July 30, 2011 08:45:44 AM
I made a lamp this week!.  I am very proud of myself.  I've been looking for just the right lamp for my room, but was having no luck at the thrift stores, so I decided I would make one with the goal of not spending any money.  I almost made it.  Here is the finished product

I started with things from my stash:  A swag kit I've had for at least 5 years, and a basket I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $3 a long time ago.

But the basket doesn't really match my room, so I started looking for things to cover it, and found the bottom section of a vintage velvet dress I bought a few months ago for less than $1.00.  I had already cut it up to make a purse for a swap package, but the bottom hem and the gathered portion were intact.  I cut it just above the seam line, then hot glued it to the basket.  To cover the messy cut at the top, I dug some vintage crochet trim from my stash and used silk pins to pin it to the basket.  This way I can reuse the trim at a later date and not have to worry about it unraveling.  It overlaps a little, but I keep that part turned to the back.

I wasn't entirely happy with the way it looked hanging down, so I took some more pins and pinned it up inside the basket(see first picture).  It gave it kind of a ruched texture that was a little more formal.

Here is a further back view(sorry for the slight blur)

Other info-
My swag kit did not come with the light socket, so I bought a replacement socket at Wal-Mart for about $3.00 and wired it myself!  Then, for safety reasons, I also purchased a led light bulb because they do not emit heat like incandescents and cfl's.  That ran me about $15.00--but I figured it was worth not burning down my house.  So it did end up costing me about $18.00, but I think it was worth it.  I am really happy to finally have my vanity table not cluttered with a lamp(just cluttered with crafting supplies  Wink).

Thanks for looking!

4  Master Bedroom almost done!--Very Pic hvy in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by fiorinda on: July 26, 2011 09:00:47 AM
I've been working on my master bedroom for about 4 years. I am finally almost done!  I spent last week doing quite a bit of work, so I figured I would go ahead and post.  I'll update as I complete things.   I can;t find a before picture, but the walls were painted very dark green.

Firstly, here is what you see when you walk in the door

Bed by Fiorinda, on Flickr

All but two of my hoops are from swaps here on Craftster, and the art on the left wall is also from a swap.  That wall is still in progress. Two of the decorative pillows on the bed are also from a swap.  I love my swap stuff!

Secondly-here are the two pieces I painted last week.  I've been waiting years to paint this furniture, but never felt like dealing with the hassle.  Then I discovered Annie Sloan's Chalk paint and am totally happy.  No sanding or priming.  I need to do some touch-up here and there, but that can wait for another day when I am bored.

I took the closet doors off a few months ago because the doors were alway open and in the way. The panels are from Ikea.

The Hope picture is one I made last week.  I got a sample of Louis Blue with my chalk paint order and painted a gold frame I've had around forever, then used scrapbook paper to do the word.  Here's a close-up.

This part is still a work in progress

I can;t decide if I want to paint the jewelry box, and I need to reframe and re-mat my "Happier than a bird with a french fry" print.  I was using the mannequin to take pics of stuff for etsy, but I am kind of liking it there. Now if only I can convince my dh to get new doors!  Maybe I will have to paint them. I will probably not paint my desk since its an actual antique. It currently houses ou r t.v and PS3.  Very unsightly, but I have 4 kids, and some of them think flat screen t.v.'s are a great writing surface.

I guess that is all for now.  I'll update when I finish up all the decor on the walls.

I received from hgddm today!  I am very happy.

Here are my pillows on my bed(the two lace ones were my birthday present from my dh right after we started this swap-the ticking stripe one is my mom's, but it somehow ended up at my house, I may have to steal it)

6  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 5 - Color Spectrum Gallery!! (Send 6/6/11) in The Swap Gallery by fiorinda on: June 23, 2011 02:55:07 PM
Here's my lovely hoop from rangerbeth.  It's totally perfect.  It actually came last week, but I was out of town on vacation.  It was fun to come home knowing my hoop was waiting for me.

And here is my newly rearranged hoop wall.  I ended up putting my hoop from PirateColey in my daughter's room.  Her room has big green leaves painted on the walls and butterflies, so the dragonflies were perfect for it.

So thanks rangerbeth and PirateColey for another awesome Hoopla Round!

Sorry it took me an extra day to get pics up, it's a little crazy here since school got out.

Here is my beautiful owl from schnerby.  She used all vintage supplies!  I've always loved this pattern, so I am so glad someone finally made him for me!

I'm so happy you liked everything!  I was afraid of the glass breaking, I am glad your dad can fix it.

Here's a pic of the shadowbox.

Here's another of the bag where you can see the embossing and color--I used the gears from the shadowbox to emboss the velvet.  I may have to make myself one because I loved how it turned out.

I received from scarlet_nights yesterday!  I love it all! She used a lot of vintage lace and other pieces, which I love.

A small purse

a cuff

and 3 necklaces!

She also sent some extras I didn't get a pic of.

Thank you so very much.  I hope you like what I have made as much as I like my new bag and jewelry.
