Don't buy the saw until he is making glass projects on a weekly basis - saws are great things, but you don't need it at all.

A glass GRINDER is a really good accessory. You can find Inland or Glastar grinders for between 80 and 150 bucks from ebay. A grinder helps to refine the edges of your pieces so your foil goes on smoother, and so your pattern fits better, thus making soldering go smoother.

See if you can find a "diamond" drill bit- it has little diamond chips embedded in it. It will drill through glass easier, and as long as you hold a wet sponge on it, it won't overheat & crack the glass. Try looking online for this.
