2  treats for my daughter! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mamakittyx2 on: May 01, 2004 09:06:37 AM
I went to Port Angeles for an overnight stay and I picked up some beads to make jewelry for my daughter, Megan. Here's what I made!

Baby Jelly Earrings.

Ever been to a marina and while looking into the water, seen tiny baby jellyfish? They look exactly like the rose quartz beads on these earrings! Freshwater pearl and sterling silver chain and findings.

Cherry Necklace

These red jade beads with green bottle-glass leaves are ripe for the picking! Sterling silver chain and findings.

hope she loves them!

3  Mini-alter! in Completed Projects by mamakittyx2 on: March 29, 2004 09:32:49 AM
Here is a mini-alter I made last night, out of card-board , paper and other objects around the house...

It is a tribute to cleaning and organizing. I made the feather duster out of a toothpick, some tissue, and a feather. the cleaning bottle is shrinky-dink, and the "rubber" gloves are card-stock with plastic bag glued to them. I used fabric scraps for the pile of laundry. My favorite part is the post it with the "magnet" on it...I cut a tiny circle of paper, and drew a little heart on it, then dropped a tiiiny bead of glue on top, let it dry, and presto! Tiny marble magnet!

YAY!

4  bumble bee window gem in Completed Projects by mamakittyx2 on: March 14, 2004 03:37:39 PM
I made this the other night out of fimo, beads and wire.

here's a close up:

I made the bee and the flower bead out of fimo clay, and I used glass beads I had on hand. The wings are some plastic I sanded lightly with sandpaper and cut into shape. Before baking him, I pushed the wings into his back make dents. After he was baked, I dipped the wings in glue, and put them in the dents.

His antenna are small bits of rigid beading wire, colored black with a sharpie. I stuck two tiny balls of fimo on the ends of the wire, then baked them for two minutes. Then, I used a push-pin to make two small holes above his eyes. I dipped the ends of the antennea in glue, and then gently pushed them into the holes.

Yay!

7  gravestone earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mamakittyx2 on: January 29, 2004 03:11:10 PM
I made these earrings out of fimo (the skulls, bats and gravestones) and bought the other beads.

I used thin silver wire to make loops whcih I stuff into the bottom of the gravestones, so I could hang beads off of them.

I glued earring backs onto them when I was done beading them....
they are about 3 inches long.

8  father's day... in Father's Day by mamakittyx2 on: January 29, 2004 03:00:08 PM
I made this last year, in a hurry!

I wanted to depict the joy and amazing evolution that my husand and my son experience through each other...

I used some fabric scraps, poster board, vellum paper, and shiny thread. you can't really tell, but I stuffed the "clouds" with cotton balls, so they are sorta 3-D.

my husband hung it in his cubicle, at work. Smiley

it's about 11 inches long.

9  skating tin!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mamakittyx2 on: January 27, 2004 02:41:04 PM
I made this during the holidays:

http://i.xanga.com/mamakitty/snowtin1.JPG
here's how:

it's an altoids tin. I pressed white fimo into the edges for snow banks, then baked the tin. then I mixed a tiiiny bit of blue food coloring into clear acrylic gloss...I poured the gloss into the "pond" area and let it dry for a few days.

then, I cut out paper shapes to fit into the lid, to make the scene, then I painted glue where I wanted glitter. I poured the glitter all over it, and....YAY!

then, I created tiny fimo people , baked them and painted them. I cut out tiny magnet circles and glued them to the fimo people.

you take a large magnet, run it along the underside of the tin, and the little people "skate" around!!!!!

:)
