51  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Pink Leo on: November 07, 2012 06:48:26 AM
How could I resist?!?  As soon as I spied the lion on Vanna's Choice Easy Crochet Critters, I knew I had to hook up a pink one for myself!  (Note: Lion stolen by DD as soon as pics taken)

Pattern Used: Little Amigurumi Lion from Vanna's Choice Easy Crochet Critters
Yarn Used: Variety of pink heathered Wool-Ease
Hook Used: G
Modifications: I changed his ear to simple half-circle, and I placed them behind he mane instead in front as directions&pic have them.

Here he is! (I apologize now for overload of pics....too cute not to)

Out in the wild..

Wait, where are you going...

....

....

Oh no you don't!

Sit!

Good lion...

How are you spending the holidays?  Perhaps you are spending the holidays cozied up at The Burrow, wandering the halls of Hogwarts, or having a good old-fashioned Muggle gathering...but really what better way is there to celebrate than with a little Harry Potter Holiday crafting!  For this swap we will be exchanging Harry Potter holiday items like HP ornaments, mini-hooplas, jewelry for the Yule Ball, or a small HP present for your partner.

~*This swap is for 1 small item (1-2 hours crafting time) in the theme of HP Holiday.
~*You can have up to 3 partners.  EXCEPTION: First-time swappers will be limited to 1 partner.  This is to help ease you into the swap process.
~*You can Invite Your Own Partners!  If you obtain an Invite Your Partner (IYP), PM your organizer, pinkleo, after both sides agree.  Questionnaires will not be sent out until signups closing, but you are ore than welcome to start sharing your questionnaire and crafting for your IYP as soon as you are approved for the swap.  REMEMBER: You must be approved for the swap before announcing IYPs.

IMPORTANT NOTES
~* Since this is a holiday swap, if you have not sent by 3 days pass sendouts, you will get temporary negative.  Don't mean to be harsh, but it is sad to not to receive your holiday parcel during holiday time.  This temporary negative will be reversed when your partner receives.
~* If you do not have IYP and I am pairing, that will be done by random draw (with appropriate attention to allergies and shipping given).
~* You may agree with your partner to send extras, but remember that is not regulate through me and not part of my feedback.

If you want to participate, fill out the below questionnaire and send to organizer.
(Remember to send your info to the organizer via Private Message (PM) and not to reply with it here)

Anything else to tell your partner? (A great place to list your blog, Facebook, pinterest, sizes, etc.)

Remember to read the Swap Info Guide and Swap FAQs before participating in a swap.

Note about Personal Messages (PMs) to Organizer: Please label PMs to organizer with title of "HP Holiday" or "HPH".

Note about Communication: For a wonderful swap experience, communication is the key.  Please keep in touch with your partner.  Further, it would be nice if you would post in this thread at least once a week (you could just stop in for a quick hello.....or if on holiday or will be without internet access or anything of the such, just post a message....it gives your partner and organizer warm fuzzy feelings to know you are still around).

Notes about Sending, Receiving, and Feedback
  • SENDING: Take pictures of your items before you send.  When sending, you must use a DC# (or for overseas keep that receipt). Keep your receipt until your partner receives.  PM organizer and partner when you send.
  • RECEIVING: PM organizer and partner when you receive.  Take pictures of received items. (Please take quality pictures, like ones you would take of your work.)  Post pictures in gallery in a timely manner.
  • FEEDBACK: Given when a package is received (verified through PM or DC#) Detailed feedback will be given.  Examples: Sent Early or Lack of Communication: No PMs of Sending/Receiving.
.

HPH2 FAQs
---Please note that you are sending to a partner, meaning that they are sending you a package too.  The list is separated the way it is because people are sending & receiving different numbers of packages.

---Also, you are separated into Teams for jennie's and my benefit; it is helping us keep track of sending, receiving, pictures posted, etc.  Remember no matter what Team you are on, you MUST send sending & receiving PMs to both pinkleo & jennieingram.

---NO, you do not have to send extras.  Do not fret about if you are only sending 1 small item; that is all that is required for this swap.  Yes, some of us will send more, but don't underestimate the glory of 1 fabulous small HP craft.

---NO, your HPH2 item does NOT have to be an ornament; I will not give negative feedback for sending something other than an ornament.  Believe it or not, some peeps don't want ornaments.  Here communication is key!  Find out what your partner wants; first place to check, their questionnaire.

---A small item should take 1-2 hours of crafting time.  YES, you may send a set of related extra-smalls that equal that crafting time if you wish.  (And yes, you can go over that time; I probably will.)

---YES, jennie & I are open to look at your items if you want feedback, but remember we both are busy during the day (and most nights) and need crafty time too so advice may not be instantaneous.
53  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Harry Potter Holiday ~crafting 1 small, up to 3 partners, & you can IYP~ on: October 25, 2012 08:33:31 AM
The Holidays are fast approaching, and what better way to celebrate than with a little Harry Potter Holiday crafting!

~*Harry Potter Holiday*~

ornament by lyndseynicole
It is always nice to receive a small gift for the holidays, and I know our HP crafters could really spread some HP crafty cheer.

~*This swap is for 1 small item (1-2 hours crafting time) in the theme of HP Holiday.

~*You can have up to 3 partners.  Unless...*NEW*: After consulting with my co-organizer, we have decided that first-time swappers will be limited to 1 partner.  This will help ease you into the swap process.

~*You can Invite Your Own Partners!

What could you craft??
Anything really....it could be something holiday themed like an ornament, or it could be a small HP present for your partner.

...See, easy peasy!

Now, you can, if you wish, send more goodies, but that is between you and your partner.  Good communication here is key!

Tentative Timeline
~*Signups Nov. 1-11
~*Sendouts Dec. 8

Other Important Swap Details to Note:
~* Since this is a holiday swap, if you have not sent by 3 days pass sendouts, you will get temporary negative.
Don't mean to be harsh, but it is sad to not to receive your holiday parcel during holiday time.  (I shall not even speak the word flaker; this is the saddest of all.  Hopefully this will help catch any of those You-Know-Whos and make sure their partners get holiday angels in time.)

~* And for my sanity, if you do not have IYP and I am pairing, that will be done by random draw (with appropriate attention to allergies and shipping given).

So, what do you say?  Are you in? Cool

Let's see if I can tempt more peeps....

54  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / because jennie pinned it shrug ~with free pattern link~ on: October 21, 2012 06:20:45 PM
Once I saw my swap partner pinned this shrug, I knew I had to hook it for her!  And I loved how it turned out and feel the need to make myself one too (after I make my Mom one since she fell in love with this shrug).

Pattern Used: Simple Crochet Shrug
Yarn Used: 4 Skeins Lion Brand Homespun (Barrington colorway)
Hook Used: N Hook

([pic by jennieingram...better representation of true color)

And though I hate any part of myself in pics Tongue, I decided that it would help others to see how it fits Smiley.  Note, my daughter took these pics. Cool

55  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Astronomy Tower Shawlette aka Wingspan Shawl ~with free pattern link~ on: October 21, 2012 06:06:41 PM
I wanted to created something special & different for my crafty BBF & Back to Hogwarts swap partner jennieingram.  I had it in my mind that this shawlette would be perfect for anyone up in the Tower studying Astronomy.  Not only would it emulate the night sky with its varying deep blues and sparkles from beads as stars, it would keep the chill away that is always found up high in towers.

Pattern Used: Wingspan Crochet Shawl by Carole Marie which is free for Ravelry peeps
Yarn Used: 1.5 skeins of Knit Picks Stroll Tonal (924 yds of fingering weight yarn)
Hook Used: 3.5 mm (E)
Modifications: I replaced HDCs for SCs and added beaded fringe.

Thanks for peeking, and happy hooking if you decide to dive into this project. Grin

57  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Shell Cottage Bracelet on: October 21, 2012 05:33:48 PM
"Bill and Fleur's cottage stood alone on a cliff overlooking the sea, its walls embedded with shells and whitewashed... Wherever Harry went inside the tiny cottage or its garden, he could hear the constant ebb and flow of the sea, like the breathing of some great, slumbering creature. He spent much of the next few days making excuses to escape the crowded cottage, craving the cliff-top view of open sky and wide, empty sea, and the feel of cold, salty wind on his face"

I would love to travel to Shell Cottage....live there if I could...

58  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Owl Earrings & Necklace on: October 21, 2012 05:30:33 PM
I recently found some fab owl beads, and I knew I had to make my crafty BFF & Hogwarts swap partner some jewelry with them.

Yellow Owl Earrings (I was in a spring mood when I crafted this, even if it is the beginning of autumn)

Yellow Owl Necklace

Yellow Owl Set (you can see how it hangs in this pic better)

and Blue Owl Earrings (the owls looked odd with feet, so I used a bead cap to represent them)

Thanks for peeking! Grin
59  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Nutty Treats with Recipe Links ~makes great gifts~ on: October 21, 2012 02:22:32 PM
I recently made a ton of nutty treats, and I was thinking that my fellow Craftsters would adore some of these links and ideas.  These Nutty Treats would make great gifts, especially for those guys. (I always have a hard time thinking of homemade guy gifts.)  Plus, they are easy to make.  Enjoy!

Crockpot Sugared Walnuts aka My Daughter's Fave Walnuts: recipe link, substituted walnuts for pecans & substituted cardamon for cloves

Peanut Brittle Bites: brittle cut into bite-sized pieces...recipe link

Chinese Five Spice Pecans: recipe link: added a bit more syrup

Cloud Candy: aka Divinity...with pecans recipe link

Pumpkin Spiced Almonds: recipe link, I suggest less cooking time so doesn't get too browned

Hot & Spicy Peanuts: recipe link, spicy...YUM!

Last, but not least...Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios Bars: recipe link

60  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Gryffindor Jewelry Box on: October 21, 2012 02:07:20 PM
For my Back to Hogwarts swap partner, I wanted to create a Gryffindor item that didn't scream GRYFFINDOR and an aged, passed down (or treasure you stumbled upon in a second-hand shop in Diagon Alley) look.  So I picked up one of those plain boxes at the craft store, and I beat, stained, battered, painted, sanded, oiled, rubbed with ash, and much more to create this aged look.  It was fun to make, and I was rather happy with the results. Grin  (Also, I figured that since I was sending a jewelry box that I should fill it with jewelry. Wink)

~*Gryffindor Jewelry Box*~

And because I took a bunch of pics, I reducioed them; click small pics to activate engorio charm.*

*yes, I'm one of those HP crafters! Cool

Thanks for peeking! Grin
