Wow, this is awesome!  I love all the colors, and the plants look great!  Excellent job!

My husband and I collect frogs...maybe we should make one of these as a nifty display idea!
212  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Final Fantasy-themed wedding? on: July 01, 2005 01:00:31 PM
My husband and I (who were married in front of a JP with nobody else around) are planning on having a big wedding with friends and family soon, and it is also going to be a FF-themed wedding!  We've been so excited planning it.  I'll be making either Celes' opera dress (http://www.doupe.cz/vaulty/finalfantasy/pictures/ff6celes3.jpg) or Yuna's wedding dress (http://www.suspiciouscloset.com/costumes/YunaWedding.jpg), and he's going to dress as...well, he actually hasn't decided yet, hehe.

But the major points we've already discussed have been:

Making invitations look like a treasure chest or an airship.
A cake shaped like Figaro Castle, surrounded by "sand"
"Magicite" or "Materia" centerpieces
Having a friend of our family, who's a piano player, play Aria de Mezzo Carreterre as I walk down the aisle

As we come up with more things, I'll post them, but I think it's wonderful!  It will be TONS of fun.  Please post pictures soon!

I'm with GloriousHats and craftykate.  As a devout fan of anything Japanese, I was shocked that I hadn't heard of him.  But as soon as I saw those pants, I immediately looked him up, and I think I'm in love!

Oh and by the way...

YOU F***ING ROCK!  I mean, you get top points for creative use of materials alone, not to mention the fact that you made something that you look AWESOME in.  Phat!

Eep!  It's like a fresh garden salad, or something...hehe.  Very summery and cute, and I WANT THAT TOP.

Brilliant!  I'm going to have such a hard time voting!   Cry

Wow...that is truly amazing.  I am in awe!!!

I think you should remove the flaps, but I also think it would be cool if you were to replace the buttons with some shiny black or gunmetal ones, to match the ribbon.

But that's just me loving funky interruptions like that.  Rock on!

I realize this is a very late response, but I saw the CUTEST little toy that my sister-in-law used to play with.  It's a big, flat, square, pink pillow with a little pig's head sewn onto the center of one of the sides.  On the next side over, right in the center, was a big plastic button, and on the opposite side from the button was a big loop.  When you fold the pillow in half and fasten the button into the loop, the four corners of the pillow make four little pointy pig feet, and it stands up by itself.  It was so cute!  And clever too.  Sorry if you can't get a visual.  It's not easy to describe ^^;
218  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gifts for an Eclectic Musician on: June 22, 2005 08:43:33 AM
My brother's 20th birthday is coming up next weekend, and soon after that he'll be moving out of our parents' house into his own apartment.  I'm very proud of him, and I want to make him some cool stuff for his apartment.  Now, he's a professional musician, and all he really cares about in life is his music.  Right now he's really into Tom Waits, and has been for a long time, so here are the ideas I have so far:

An LP (record) ashtray
The CD nightstand idea on this forum

And I'd really like to do something regarding Tom Waits.  I also have a whole bunch of those little clear plastic CD's that come on the top and bottom of a stack of blank CD's from the store, and I'd really like to use those too.  Any ideas?  I'm not as interested in being thrifty as I am in making something cool and unique that he'll want to keep forever.

How about this:

First, design an "evil flag"...something, well, evil-looking.  A pair of mean green cat's eyes or something.

Then, make a whole lot of mini "evil-flags" and glue them onto all the major cities on a world map.

Entitle the map "Master Plan."

Or you could craft a "remote control" with a cartoony antenna and a big, shiny, red button and label it "THE BUTTON."
