I wanted my flower girls' bouquets to also be a fun keepsake for her {she's all about princesses, and girly things right now}, and I couldn't decide on a button bouquet or a 'silk' flower pomander... so I made this fun button bouquet with flower petals!
It was very straight forward to make...
Materials:
- one lei {I used all-white}, cut string and discard plastic spacers
- selection of colourful buttons {I used 2 to 3 per flower}
- craft or floral wire
- flower tape
- ribbon {not shown}
Directions:
1. Cut a length of wire twice the length you want your flower stems {I made mine 7-inches long}; bend in half.
2. Select buttons and thread onto wire, so buttons end up in the middle of the wire, with wire threaded on each side of the button.
3. Thread wire onto petals {I used two per flower}.
4. Underneath silk flowers, twist two wire together. And end of wire, bend up and twist onto stem {this is so your flower girl doesn't poke herself on sharp wire ends}.
5. Group three wire stems together, and twist together to form one larger stem.
6. Starting at base, wrap floral tape upwards, on an angle.
7. Group all floral tape wrapped stems together and wrap in the same manner with ribbon. Tie, pin or glue ends to secure.
So fun! I love that it's cheery and colourful, but will also coordinate with my 'big girls' bouquets of all-white carns.
