1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Teardrop Purse Help on: August 09, 2005 11:40:47 AM
Hello fellow craftsters!

I LUV this purse, but dont want to spend $27 on it.  Could anyone help me out with how they went about doing this?  I cant tell if it's knit or crochet ( I can do both), what kind of yarn they perhaps used or how they made it bumpy...

Any help will be much appreciated.  Ok, I guess it's ironstone cotton, which answers the bumpy question.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery for Dummies??? on: July 29, 2005 01:43:10 PM
I love the look of embroidery and I was taught a long time ago how to do it, but it has since escaped me and I need a little help!  I saw a few embroidered skirts that I just loved the look of and I would like to make a few of my own.

ANYWHO; does anyone know of any sites or past topics that could help a newbie like me out?  My sewing machine does embroidery...I think

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Tips on making a knit purse Sturdy? on: July 08, 2005 07:49:54 AM
I am working a tote bag in stockinette stitch.  I'm not working in the round and I was going to sew up the sides after I was done lining and attaching the handles.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips on what to do with my bag to make it more sturdy, i.e so it wont stretch out?  I'd like to put a notebook or two in it and I'd like it to keep a certain form.  I'm using 100% cotton so it's not like I can felt it or anything.  I was thinking of maybe doing a wire frame inbetween the yarn and the fabric but I'm not really sure if that would work.

Any advice would be helpful.  Thanks.
