1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Rockin Tea Towels on: May 04, 2010 02:23:21 PM

Pink fabric with pink-ish Rockabilly Sparrow fabric:

Red fabric with turquoise polka-dotted accent fabric:

Red fabric with zebra print - these are my favourite :-)

Thanks for looking! ;-)
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Funky cupcake kit as birthday present - Zebra Edition (pic heavy) on: March 09, 2010 01:04:27 PM
A very good friend will celebrate her birthday this upcoming Saturday, and with her, I am always at a loss at what to get for her. She is great with receiving handmade gifts, but I didnt want to take it over the top this time and got her something she AND her husband can put to good use.

Sooooo------------------------

I put together a little kit for making cupcakes. Me and MY hubby always argue what flavor to make, what frosting etc. so here is the idea - I got her cupcake mixes to make both pirate muffins as well as fairy muffins. Hubby has no point to argue anymore. Smart, no?

The whole thing doesnt just stand inside box, of course. You might not be able to see, but I made a little tote out of craft paper to keep the sprinkles, the mix for the cupcake dough and also the bag for the liners in place.

I added matching sprinkles for both mixes - 4 flavours of chocolate for the pirate muffins, and fours flavours of... well, PINK for the fairy muffins.

This bag holds the cupcake liners.

There is this cute little caf in Frankfurt where I always go to when I am in the area called "We love Cupcakes" where they give out promotional stickers. I found these very appropriate :-) - and arent they just the cutest thing EVER?

And, last but not least, I made a birthday card as well:

Oh, and in case you are wondering - the box is a used tangerine crate I still had around (never EVER toss these out - they can be used for millions of craft projects, I tell you!!!) and just covered the ugly sides with craft paper.

So what do you think - yay or nay???
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Meet CatBear! on: November 04, 2009 01:54:32 PM
I call this a Halloween costume gone wrong...

I decided pretty much last minute to actually go to this Halloween party I have been invited to. No costume. What to do? Take that scoodie I made and simply attach kitty ears. Et Voila - instant kitty kat.

WRONG!

No idea what I was thinking when making the ears. Not much, I guess. That was the birth of...

CatBear!!!

CatBear has a severe disability by birth - his mother apparently had a fling with a bear, which resulted in his deformed ears. Try not to stare at them, it might make him unconfortable.

CatBear got very popular during the Halloween night, kept me warm and cozy and was a GREAT conversation starter!!!

Thanks for looking ;-) !

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / colourful purses, 50s style on: September 10, 2009 10:36:57 AM
I have a thing for colours, and I have a thing for all things vintage and retro. Why not combine both things? EXACTLY!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / tobacco bags for the smokers among us on: September 09, 2009 12:32:06 PM
I know smoking is bad, but I got inspired by a fellow co-worker who rolls his own smokes. I came up with these - although maybe a bit girly all over, but I love how they turned out!

Me likey ;-) - and you?
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / old worn-out 50s table into... THIS! (image heavy-ish) on: April 08, 2008 11:12:48 PM
I got some really cool 50s furniture from my sisters in-laws, but this table was just ridiculous. It had a great shape, but the colour? Not so much...

So I broke out my paints and got going...

First - a teaser *lol*...

See how ugly it was??? It is HUGE, and this colour makes it look even bigger. Great shape though. You can see here that I also cut off the pointy edges (they caused major bruises on my legs, so they had to go).

And this faux wood almost made me gag every time I looked at it.

So I gathered my supplies... and started priming first.

In-progress shots:

And voila - two days later, I was done!

I love it to pieces, and it matches my 50s Rockabilly living room perfectly!!!

The total cost for remodeling this baby was around 10 (around $15) for sanding paper and varnish.

Tell me what you think! CC is mucho appreciated!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / three scarves - my very simple projects that helped me through my X-Mas vacation on: January 03, 2008 01:13:02 PM
I spent last Christmas with my parents in my hometown, and lets say it has been a very quiet time... I literally had nothing to do but spending quality time with my parents, and besides playing board games, I was knitting all the time. I am a very very beginner knitter, so this is pretty much as far as I can go right now. Eventhough a lot of you may smirk about their simplicity, I was very proud of myself, and they only took me like two days each. And hey - you have to start somewhere, right?

On to the pictures! Please pardon my stupid faces in... pretty much all the pictures...

I made the first one for my best friend. It is made of 3 skeins of 100% Merino wool.

And a close-up:

The second is made of 3 skeins of acrylic yarn and was given to my sister who currently used one of the scarves from her 2 year old son. Dont ask... She appreciated a LOT!

And a close-up:

The third one was made for a friend / co-worker who asked me to knit it for her after I told her that I going crazy with the knitting... It is made of 3 skeins of eyelash yarn... and I dont remember what quality it was.

I actually knitted four scarves, the last one for myself, but I was stupid enough not to take any pictures. Oh well.

Hope you enjoy!
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Two Old School Tattoo Swallow paintings on: October 30, 2007 01:17:14 PM
These two paintings were done on 8x8" canvas boards and acrylic paints. I did them for the current Rockabilly Swap. My partner has already received, so i think its alright to post them.

As you might be able to tell, they are meant to be hung side by side and are also supposed to be facing each other.

Comments and also criticism are welcome, as always. Thanks for looking!
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / How to jazz up old office chairs??? on: October 04, 2007 11:04:02 AM
I was given two old office chairs at my job - for free, nonetheless, but still pretty ugly. I will reupholster the seat and the back, but what really gives me a hard time is the plastic on the "legs".

The chairs are on wheels, six, to preisely, and the wheels and legs are all old and worn-out black plastic...

Is there ANY way for me to either paint it or make it prettier somehow? ANY suggestions are mucho appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!
