22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Jessy's sewing (mis)adventures, with lots o' pictures. on: May 13, 2006 03:31:17 PM
First I used either this tute or one very like it (sorry--I'll check whose when I get home): http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875.0 to make a lined pouch:

With a zipper!

And stripes!

(I swear I don't have man-arms.  Stupid camera.)

The pink velvet isn't the sturdiest fabric ever, so I had to do a bit of fixing--that's what the green at the bottom is.

Then I made a Smurfy little pouch, unlined:

I want to put straps on this, or something, but I haven't quite decided what yet.
Also, you'll notice the unevenness of my sewn lines.  I need a lot more practice.  Or a class.  Anyone taken the classes at a Joanns?
23  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / happy apple on: May 11, 2006 08:43:33 AM

(Sorry 'bout the scary JT marionette there  Wink )

My LYS had a needlefelting class and I made a happy little apple.  I'm now trying very very hard to not feed this addiction more.
24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Princess Bride hankie on: May 02, 2006 08:05:15 AM
I embroidered this for the Princess Bride swap:

It's actually a white hankie, but I spread it on a navy chair to snap the pic.
(note to self: don't do that again)
25  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Dread Pirate Roberts on: May 02, 2006 08:01:36 AM
I made this for the Princess Bride Swap and based it on the Knit a Rock Star pattern from SnB Nation.
This picture's a bit dark, but you can see his face:

(his mask comes off, too)
you can see his legs here:

and here's the back of his head:
26  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / hardcover book--> notebook (kinda pic heavy) on: April 10, 2006 10:13:33 AM
I made this for the Crafty Detective Swap.

The typing says "This book belongs to ____"

I bound some random pictures in with the blank sheets.

I'm thinking about making more of these (because it's so very fun) and putting them in my Etsy store.  Thoughts?  Pricing theories?

(bigger pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/plasticbird/tags/detectiveswap/
27  UNITED STATES / Indiana / IN Librarians/Craftsters--Indianapolis on: April 07, 2006 12:04:25 PM
Anyone else going to be at ILF in Indianapolis next week?
Or do you live there?
Want to meet up?
28  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Teva Durham's Rainbow Tank from an old Knit1? on: April 06, 2006 01:37:56 PM
I'm working up a gauge swatch for this now, in turquoise and black.
Anyone want to play along?
(Sorry, I don't remember what issue--all I've got is a copy of the pattern.)
29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Online Photo Scavenger Hunt on: March 16, 2006 11:17:03 AM
(I wasn't QUITE sure if this counted as a craftalong or not...)
Me 'n' my friend Melissa decided to make this Spring more fun with Jessy & Melissa's Super Fun Scavenger Hunt (http://takedorkypictures.blogspot.com).  You guys should totally play along.  Basically, it's an excuse to take pictures of random junk.
It was partially inspired by how much fun we had with the first round of the Little Visitor's Swap.

Here's the flickr group for the Scavenger Hunt: http://www.flickr.com/groups/takedorkypictures/
