1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / very cheap, kinda small glow-in-the-dark plastic vampire teeth? on: September 04, 2007 12:37:47 PM
http://image.funexpress.com/feimg/39_402a.jpg

I've got 160 of them.  Ideally, they could be re-worked into a teen library craft program, or some sort of weird "Books and Bites" teen library promotion.
Any good crafty ideas?

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / yet another gryffindor scarf on: August 08, 2007 07:51:04 AM
I felt yucky all last week so I spent a couple days doing nothing but watching Buffy and Veronica Mars* and doing a bit of mindless knitting.
Voila, Gryffindor scarf!

It's that mock cable rib pattern.  I like that one because it's mindless but not super boring.  And it looks cool.  Here's a close up on the stitches:

I used Cascade I had left over from making Starsview's mitts from the End of HP swap: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=160608.msg1749032;topicseen#msg1749032

*and am now totally obsessed, btw
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Godzilla block prints on: August 08, 2007 07:44:09 AM
I used this weird Speedball carving block (felt like a giant eraser) stuff I had never used before, and I don't think I like it.  Easier to carve, but cranky to print.
And I learned the 10 years is really too long to keep oil-based printing ink around lesson.  Woooo, mess!
I printed them onto some scrapbooking paper (cheaper than similar fabric).  The ink is a really dark purple, in case you can't tell.  I wanted other colors too, but my other inks and paints and things weren't working well.  I'm planning on getting ridiculous ornate gold frames.
All 3 godzillas:

closer up of 1 godzilla:

The blocks (I only used one but the original idea was 2 godzillas going in opposite directions.  Eventually I'll get better ink and more paper and do that.)

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bzzzzz: A Duct Tape Bee on: July 24, 2007 03:42:07 PM

I had a duct tape program this afternoon at the library and I made a bee.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Fall 2007 Knitscene preview on: June 27, 2007 08:34:38 AM
http://www.knitscene.com/2007/fall07projects.asp
...is up.
What do we think?  I kind of like the prairie kimono, but in different colors, cactus blossom, highlands zip, breton girl, and road to golden.
'Cause, you know, I need to line up more sweaters for this fall when I'm planning on putting up a mitten tree at work in November and December. Wink
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / teenlit swap? on: April 03, 2007 12:40:20 PM
OK, there's been a bunch of kids book swaps, but what about teen books?  There's so much good stuff out there now, or you could do your favorite book from when you were a teen, or you're fave book now if you are a teen...
C'mon, who doesn't want to make King Dork, Judy Blume's Forever, or Scott Westerfeld crafts?
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / argosy and a lace leaf pullover on: March 05, 2007 11:47:28 AM
I had a snow day awhile ago and finished things!

Lamb's Pride Bulky in Pine.  I took out the collar and just had a plain top--I don't like things on my neck all like that.

Knitty's Argosy in Patton's SWS, blocking.  I really love how this turned out.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / bead hole size? on: March 01, 2007 12:59:14 PM
Unfortunately, my words are too vague for a decent search, so I have to just ask:

When you're buying beads and wire for a project, how do you make sure the wire will fit into the bead holes?  Is there some kind of standard, "use this gauge for seed beads" kind of thing?

I'm ordering supplies for a library program and am wondering what wire and beads I should get.

Thanks!!
10  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Crafting for Groups? on: February 05, 2007 07:42:52 AM
I've noticed there are a bunch of us who are children's and/or teen librarians, or teachers, or who run Sunday schools, youth groups, etc.
We're always looking for good crafts to do with groups of kids; I think most of us post under miscellaneous.
Wouldn't it be awesome if we had a place to talk about good group craft projects?
