I staple them to a thick ribbon, which is tacked flat against a wall.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Wedding Dress From Previous Fiance. on: June 30, 2009 07:05:50 PM
If anyone you know has seen the dress and knows its history, you seriously need to consider the fact that they will most likely make all sorts of rude comments and horrified faces.  People expect your dress to be crisp, new, white and without a single smear of bad history.  It's silly bosh, but it's the way social occasions go.

If no one knows, then I guess it's up to you and your fiance.  But you'll miss out on being able to say, "Holy crap you guys!  I worked SO HARD on remaking this dress and look how fabulous it is!!"

I know it's a weird thing to say but OMG I SEE WOOD HURRAY.

I so hate to see beautiful pieces like this covered in paint.  The wood is gorgeous.
Congratulations on getting down to it and making it fab once more.

Call the Heavy Hitter!

You can also totally just paint these with acrylic paints, then coat with clear acrylic sealer.  Just be aware that the paint will inevitably crackle as you pull the magnet off the fridge.  Which looks fab.
I did some with gold paint and a paisley over it.  The crackle gives it a cool finish.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Crafting for Yule on: November 07, 2008 02:34:05 PM
What about wine mulls?  Pomander balls (and other clove-studded fruits) are traditional for Yule, and it's something wonderful to share with anyone in your life who enjoys wine.

Someone once gave me a hand-broom which had greenery tied to it, which I think would make a great yule gift.

Consider baking, as well.
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Opposites theme on: October 05, 2008 08:38:12 AM
Start with a list of opposites and come up with ideas based on that:

Pretty and Ugly
Young and Old
Cat and Dog
Fast and Slow
Apples and Oranges
Junk Food and Veggies
Mars and Venus
Cool kid and nerd
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: What can I do with old bras? on: August 09, 2008 06:05:11 PM
ummmm......
 ummmm......

Awhile back I saw someone (i think it was possibly one of the Gabor sisters) on tv - she was talking about how B(*)(*)bies are usually neglected when it comes to moisturizing. Undecided So, one of her tips was to mash bananas with some honey and smear it in to an old bra and wear the bra for a few hours. Either the bananas are the moisturizer and the honey is a natural skin firmer or vice-versa.
Just an idea ..... a lil extra pampering can't hurt the girls eh?

If it's a cotton bra, this would actually be great.  Consider sleeping with some moisturizer. Wink  Banana or honey might be a little squicky, but any sort of moisturizer held on your skin with cotton all night long will make your skin FABULOUS!  Think white cotton gloves for the boosies.

Recently, I've been using them to make magnets.  Cut out a cel or two, back it with white paper, and stick it on a magnet.
Also, if you clear coat it several times and press it in a book for a while, you could make cute pendants, rings, bracelet charms, or earrings.

I once made a duct tape purse using the insides of a CD-rom.
I imagine that a little drilling would make it possible to tack onto a fabric purse.
