61  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Giant Polar Bear Cafe Wall Hanging on: October 10, 2013 02:09:19 PM
I'm not a huge fan of painting, yet for some reason I always choose to paint really huge things (this is around 150cm across) that make for really long and boring projects.  This one took 13 hours over 3 days.  I must also mention that I'm no good at painting anything original, I usually just copy cartoons.

Anyways, here it is

It's painted on a bedsheet with poster paint.  The scene is from the anime Shirokuma Cafe. It's the cutest show ever, if you like animals who make bad puns I really recommend you watch it :-)

There are some in-progress pics on my blog if you're interested.

I think I have to pin this. Stunning.

Aww, thanks, I don't think I've ever been pinned before!

This is ridiculously cute!!  Where did you get your miniatures?

I got them from strapya-world.com. If you search for Re-ment on Ebay you can find all kinds of adorable miniatures :-)

This was my second quilt ever.  I wanted something special for mine and my bf's first place together.  Each fabric has special significance for us as a couple.  I have no patience so I did it all by machine.  It is king size with around 440 hexagons.  I was unemployed at the time so I did it in around 2 months start to finish.  After doing all this you'd want to be pretty sure you're not going to break up!

Some examples of the fabric meanings:

London tube map fabric!  Reminds us of the fun times we've had on hols there

bf's favourite animal is the polar bear.  I cut out the hexagons from the cutest parts of each fabric...it wasted a lot of fabric and was extremely time consuming but it was worth it.  You wouldn't want to accidentally separate this family now would you?

I'd seen this fabric floating around online a lot, it's so detailed irl!  All the book titles are cat related!

Anyone who has played Katamari Damacy (shout out!) will know that this is Dipp.

Being irish, we enjoy the odd tipple.  And what better than a fabric with cat waiters!

I won't bore you with all the soppy fabric meanings, there are more posted on my blog if you're interested.  I got it professionally quilted after saving up for a year.  I couldn't have asked for a more perfect design for it, the thread is purple pink gradient too!

Yesterday I got a glue gun for the first time in my life and wow, I wish I'd gotten one sooner!  I had to start playing with it immediately.

This is what I started with:

And this is what I had after 10 minutes of gluing:

I'm addicted now and can't wait to find more things to glue!

So sweet, it's always hard to craft characters as you've got to get the appearance just right but you've done a great job.
