Several decades ago the Plum Nelly Clothes Line Art show attracted up to 20,000 visitors to Rising Fawn Georgia atop Lookout Mountain. Rising Fawn and New Salem has been a local reference point for Southern Appalachian Arts and Crafts since 1947, when Fannie Mennen, a local print maker, founded the Plum Nelly Clothesline Art Show. The name Plum Nelly is derived from contractions of the phrases: "Plum out of Tennessee" and "Nearly out of Georgia." Featuring local artists and craftspeople, the show is but an historical footnote now. However the Mountain Arts and Craft Celebration hopes to revive the spirit of that past time. Rising Fawn is convenient to three interstate highways (I24, I59 & I75) and is just south of Chattanooga Tennessee. Birmingham and Huntsville AL, Nashville and Knoxville TN and Atlanta GA are within 125 miles of the park.

Artist of demonstrated quality are invited to apply as an exhibitor. A jury will determine those who will be selected to be an exhibitor at the show. The Mountain Arts and Craft Celebration will become an annual event. The early fall season is especially beautiful and the weather is just perfect for enjoying the beauty of the park. Around forty exhibitors are expected this year and will have water color artist, copper artist, photography art and much more.

Inside spaces will be in a rustic huge log cabin structure with a large stone fireplace. Outside spaces will be nestled among the beautiful trees surrounding the area. The park is full of wonderful trails and vistas; has a catfish pond for fishing, a great interpretive center for folks of all ages to learn and make crafts. Food and music will be available and it will be a spectacular weekend.
